*WHY-2
I told my students: WHAT is a scientific question. HOW is a technological question. WHEN is a chronological question. WHERE is a geographical question. WHY is a philosophical question.
1.) Why are you angry?
Gen 4:6, “Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why is your face gloomy?” This is God first question to a sinful man.
Who is Cain?
Gen 4:1-2, “Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have obtained a male child with the help of the LORD.”
And again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a cultivator of the ground.”
Cain in Hebrew is qayin, Cain = "possession"; Kain eldest son of Adam and Eve (Strong’s Concordance); and the first murderer having murdered his brother Abel; -- which occurs 18 times in the Old Testament.
Willie Wong says, “If you are right, you have no reason to be angry. If you are wrong, you have no right to be angry.”
According to https://practicalpie.com/theories-of-aggression/
“Psychologists have three main theories of aggression that attempt to explain why we become aggressive and whether that behavior can be changed. More theories have been proposed, but these three have stood the test of time so far and are key to understanding where aggression originates. These theories include:
Instinct Theory of Aggression
Frustration-Aggression Theory
Social Learning Theory”
Num 32:13, “So the LORD'S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD came to an end.”
Do not provoke the Lord to anger.
Deu 6:15, “for the LORD your God who is in the midst of you is a jealous God; so follow Him, or else the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.”
Gal 5:19-21, “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Probably many still do not know that practice “outbursts of anger” will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
2.) Why do you laugh?
Gen 18:13, “But the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I actually give birth to a child, when I am so old?'
Generally speaking, it is good and healthy to laugh.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/stress-management/in-depth/stress-relief/art-20044456
“Stress relief from laughter? It's no joke
When it comes to relieving stress, more giggles and guffaws are just what the doctor ordered. Here's why.
Whether you're guffawing at a sitcom on TV or quietly giggling at a newspaper cartoon, laughing does you good. Laughter is a great form of stress relief, and that's no joke.
Stress relief from laughter
A good sense of humor can't cure all ailments, but data is mounting about the positive things laughter can do.
Short-term benefits
A good laugh has great short-term effects. When you start to laugh, it doesn't just lighten your load mentally, it actually induces physical changes in your body. Laughter can:
· Stimulate many organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain.
· Activate and relieve your stress response. A rollicking laugh fires up and then cools down your stress response, and it can increase and then decrease your heart rate and blood pressure. The result? A good, relaxed feeling.
· Soothe tension. Laughter can also stimulate circulation and aid muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce some of the physical symptoms of stress.
Long-term effects
Laughter isn't just a quick pick-me-up, though. It's also good for you over the long term. Laughter may:
· Improve your immune system. Negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity. By contrast, positive thoughts can actually release neuropeptides that help fight stress and potentially more-serious illnesses.
· Relieve pain. Laughter may ease pain by causing the body to produce its own natural painkillers.
· Increase personal satisfaction. Laughter can also make it easier to cope with difficult situations. It also helps you connect with other people.
· Improve your mood. Many people experience depression, sometimes due to chronic illnesses. Laughter can help lessen your stress, depression and anxiety and may make you feel happier. It can also improve your self-esteem.
Improve your sense of humor
Are you afraid that you have an underdeveloped — or nonexistent — sense of humor? No problem. Humor can be learned. In fact, developing or refining your sense of humor may be easier than you think.
· Put humor on your horizon. Find a few simple items, such as photos, greeting cards or comic strips, that make you chuckle. Then hang them up at home or in your office, or collect them in a file or notebook. Keep funny movies, TV shows, books, magazines or comedy videos on hand for when you need an added humor boost. Look online at joke websites or silly videos. Listen to humorous podcasts. Go to a comedy club.
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Find a way to laugh about your own situations and watch your stress begin to fade away. Even if it feels forced at first, practice laughing. It does your body good.
Consider trying laughter yoga. In laughter yoga, people practice laughter as a group. Laughter is forced at first, but it can soon turn into spontaneous laughter.
· Share a laugh. Make it a habit to spend time with friends who make you laugh. And then return the favor by sharing funny stories or jokes with those around you.
· Knock, knock. Browse through your local bookstore or library's selection of joke books and add a few jokes to your list that you can share with friends.
· Know what isn't funny. Don't laugh at the expense of others. Some forms of humor aren't appropriate. Use your best judgment to discern a good joke from a bad or hurtful one.
Laughter is the best medicine
Go ahead and give it a try. Turn the corners of your mouth up into a smile and then give a laugh, even if it feels a little forced. Once you've had your chuckle, take stock of how you're feeling. Are your muscles a little less tense? Do you feel more relaxed or buoyant? That's the natural wonder of laughing at work.”
But laugh at the Word of God because of unbelief is a seriously wrong matter. With respect to the Word of God, we should always believe and obey.
Luk 8:21, “But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the Word of God and do it.”
Heb 4:12, “For the Word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Col 3:16, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom
teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual
songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
1Jo 2:5, “but whoever follows His Word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.”
3.) Why am I in this condition?
Gen 25:22, “But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If it is so, why am I in this condition?” So she went to inquire of the LORD.”
A person can be in a condition of his/her own doing. For example, a drug addict creates a condition unbearable. A smoker can create a condition of lung cancer. An obese person can create conditions of diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, etc.
On the other hand, a lazy and unskilled person can create a condition of poverty.
Any person who got hooked on heroine can have a situation which he/she cannot control. One friend of heroine addict told me that a heroine addict may even sell her mother for a fix.
A person who likes to gamble and borrow may have a situation to be hunted by debtors.
A person who often have sex with prostitutes may get VD without his control.
What a man sows, that he shall reap.
A person who does not smoke or drink, and yet why does he/she get cancer or other catastrophic disease? I do not have the answer. The suffering saint should inquire of the Lord.
If you are poor or rich because the state made you, then the state is responsible for your situation. If you are rich or poor all because you have done it, then you are responsible for your situation. Just an example how one can be poor and no one else is to be blamed: If you are uneducated and unskilled. If you are lazy and productive. If you are undisciplined and unmotivated. On the other hand, if the state treats you specially because of your race. If the states provides you with free capital or lucrative contract. If a public corporation gives you higher wages because of your race and gender, not because of your qualifications and ability…
I do not know why God allowed holocaust tragedy to happen.
One pretty American girl was driving, her mother made a fatal PHONE call, she accepted the call that caused the deadly accident. I do not know why God let that happened. I met a very beautiful young women at the hospital, I do not know why God allowed her to have lymphosarcoma and died quickly. I do not know why God allowed fourteen figure skaters -- including some young athletes called the "rising stars" of the sport -- are among the victims of the airplane collided with Army helicopter at the end of January 2025 amid the celebration of Chinese New Year. Figure skaters are my favorite people. But I would never join those foolish and wicked atheists who say God does not exist because He does not prevent evil to happen. I do not understand many things. I can only sadly submit to the Sovereignty of God. For I know God has FINAL say of everything. I also know that Jesus Christ is the final Judge of the Living and the Dead.
4.) Why have you deceived me?
Gen 29:25, “So it came about in the morning that, behold, it was Leah! And he said to Laban, “What is this that you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served with you? Why then have you deceived me?”
According to https://neurolaunch.com/deception-psychology/
“From little white lies to elaborate schemes, the art of deception weaves itself through the fabric of human interaction, leaving psychologists to unravel the complex motives and mechanisms behind this ubiquitous phenomenon. Deception, in all its forms, has been an integral part of human behavior since time immemorial. It’s a fascinating subject that has captivated the minds of researchers, philosophers, and everyday people alike. But what exactly drives us to deceive, and how does it impact our relationships, society, and even our own self-perception?
Deception comes in many forms, each with its own psychological underpinnings. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most common types of deception that psychologists study:
1. Verbal Deception: This is perhaps the most straightforward form of deception. It involves using words to convey false information or to create a misleading impression. Verbal deception can range from small white lies (“No, that dress doesn’t make you look fat”) to elaborate fabrications.
2. Nonverbal Deception: Our bodies can lie too! Nonverbal deception involves using body language, facial expressions, or other physical cues to mislead others. This might include fake smiles, avoiding eye contact, or even manipulating one’s posture to appear more confident or trustworthy.
3. Self-Deception: In a twist that would make Freud proud, humans are remarkably adept at deceiving themselves. Lying to yourself might sound counterintuitive, but it’s a common psychological phenomenon. We might convince ourselves that we’re happy in an unfulfilling job or relationship, or downplay the risks of unhealthy behaviors.
4. Deception by Omission: Sometimes, what we don’t say is just as important as what we do say. Deception by omission involves withholding important information to create a false impression. It’s the classic “lie of omission” that can be just as damaging as an outright falsehood.
5. Deception by Commission: This is the active form of lying, where false information is deliberately provided. It’s what most people think of when they hear the word “lie.”
Each of these forms of deception has its own psychological nuances and implications. For instance, self-deception psychology is a fascinating field that explores how and why we lie to ourselves, often in ways that can be both beneficial and harmful.”
I disagree, the Bible never promotes deception as beneficial. So, you must not always agree with so-called science; you can always concur with the Scriptures. In fact, deception is one of the Satanic activities.
2Th 2:9-12, “that is, the one whose coming is in accord
with the activity of Satan, with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order
that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.”
There are wicked people who will deceive you and it is not your fault. But there are bad people who will deceive you because of your own stupidity. Because of my own stupidity and inexperience, I was fooled by a Chinese man for hearing aids at 45,000. There are also people who are defrauded because of their own greed. For example, a very high yield for your investment. If you are a woman, a man says he loves you and wants to marry you but he wants to have sex with you now. You can be sure, this man wants sex only. If you are a man, a woman says she loves you and wants to marry you; but her mother is ill and needs a large sum of money. You can be sure she wants money only. The father of a Chinese girl wanted me to send him $25,000 for me to marry his daughter!!!!!!!!?????? Do not make yourself a victim.
1Sa 28:12, “When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!”
The deceiver deceives.
5.) Why do the righteous suffer and the wicked prosper?
Jer 12:1, “Righteous are You, LORD, when I plead my case
with You; nevertheless I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?”
This is probably the most difficult question encountered by all Christians in this present world.
According to https://foundations.icm.org/lesson/lesson-49-thirty-biblical-reasons-why-people-suffer/#:~:text
“Biblical Reasons Why People Suffer
Why do the righteous suffer? That is a question people have asked for thousands of years. We normally do not ask or even wonder when bad or evil people suffer, but why do good people suffer? Not only does the book of Job address that question, so do many other parts of Scripture. In fact, the issue of suffering comes up in nearly every book in the Bible. The Bible gives many reasons that help us understand why we suffer.”
My search of the Scriptures:
Jesus teaches the saints will suffer many things in this world.
I think sufferings are a very complicated matters which no one will get the full answers in this life. Jesus was our Example to suffer in order to learn obedience.
Luk 24:26, “Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to
come into His glory?”
No cross, no crown.
Luk 24:46, “and He said to them, “So it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.”
But Christ suffered for our sins. The Bible also clearly teaches that Christians also suffer for the sake of Christ.
Act 5:41, “So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.”
Rom 8:17, “and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.”
Phl 1:29, “For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf.”
This is a higher truth, not only to believe in Christ, but also to suffer on His behalf.
2Ti 2:3, “Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
Many believers do not know that Christians must be good soldiers of Jesus Christ to suffer hardship.
1Pe 2:20, “For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.”
1Pe 3:14, “But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE IN DREAD.”
1Pe 3:17, “For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.”
1Pe 4:19, “Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God are to entrust their souls to the faithful Creator in doing what is right.”
Here is the real gist of the matter. Many Christians do not know this high truth: you may suffer for righteousness, suffer for doing what is right, you may suffer according to the will of God. All you need to do is to entrust your souls to the faithful Creator or rather the Heavenly Father.
The second half of the question: Why do the wicked prosper bothers a lot of believers. Capitalism in 2025 produces 5 trillionaies, not one of them is a Christian.
Christians seek to be rich in relation to God, rich in faith, rich in good works.
Jas 1:11, “For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also
the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out.”
1Ti 6:9, “But those who want to get rich fall into temptation
and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into
ruin and destruction.”
1Ti 6:17-18, “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited
or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.”
A thing that bothers me a lot in this present world:
Job 21:7, “Why do the wicked still live, grow old, and also become very powerful?”
In my life experiences I met quite a few wicked or bad people. I disagree with those who say there are more good people than bad people. Most people are ordinary people who are neither good nor bad. I encountered those wicked and bad people at work. I thought if I did not need to make a living, I would never have met them.
Mar 9:38-40, “John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons
in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. For the one who is not
against us is for us.”
Jesus also says, Mat 12:30, “The one who is not with Me is against Me; and the one who does not gather with Me scatters.”
There is no neutrality with respect to Jesus Christ who is the Center of everything.
The final victory belongs to Jesus Christ because He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. The final victory also belongs to Christians who are followers of Jesus Christ.
6.) Why do you strike me?
Jhn 18:22-23, “But when He said this, one of the officers, who was standing nearby, struck Jesus, saying, “Is that the way You answer the high priest?” Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?”
Why are they striking you is worse than why they are striking their companion.
Those who have power or authority tend to practice physical abuse or violence on others. In particular, when the victim makes truthful statement and speaks rightly. Japanese soldiers for no reason killed 36 million Chinese. Nazis for wrong reason killed 6 million Jews. The West on account of aggression and hegemony killed millions of innocent peoples around the world. Murder is very serious and sad. The wicked strike down people like a sport. The evil religion still practices beheading Christians. I look, and look, and look -- I could not find a good world leader or politician. Then I understand the Word of God,
1Jo 5:19, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”
The Devil is the evil one.
Exo 2:13, “Now he went out the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were fighting with each other; and he said to the offender, “Why are you striking your companion?”
In a modern day like in America, we can rephrase the question: Why do you kill your fellow mankind?
America is a violent society, the failing government lets people to possess guns. Why Cain killed his brother Abel? Why does the West in alliance to oppress the world?
Why America and the West have killed millions of innocent peoples? Why an evil religion beheads Christians?
Violence began with Cain, but the devil is the first murderer.
Jhn 8:44, “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Gen 6:11, “Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.”
In the sight of God, violence is corrupt.
Psa 11:5, “The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked,
And His soul hates one who loves violence.”
Pro 21:7, “The violence of the wicked will sweep them away,
Because they refuse to act with justice.”
Eze 7:23, “Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.”
Who can say the cited above is not a description of America?
Rev 18:21, “Then a strong angel picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will never be found again.”
According to https://www.stopvaw.org/uploads/domestic_violence_fact_sheet_finall3.pdf
“What is Domestic Violence? · Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive and threatening behaviors perpetrated by an intimate partner or family member against another. · Domestic violence involves exercising a pattern of coercive control over a victim: using acts designed to make her subordinate and/or dependent by isolating her from sources of support, regulating her everyday behaviors, and preventing her independence or escape…Abusive behaviors may include physical violence (physical abuse, injuries), emotional violence (humiliation, threats), economic violence (preventing someone from getting or keeping a job, making funds unavailable to dependent family members), and sexual violence (sexual abuse, marital rape).”
According to https://www.womenagainstabuse.org/assets/media/DV_Fact_Sheet.pdf
“Prevalence in the United States · On average more than three women a day are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in the United States. About 1 in 3 women (31.5%) in the United States has experienced physical violence by an intimate partner at some point in her lifetime.
Women are much more likely than men to be victimized by a current or former intimate partner. 3 85% of domestic violence victims are women.”
There is a difference between physical punishment and physical violence.
According to https://draaronpbryant.com/physical-violence-causes-consequences-and-prevention/#:~:text
“Physical violence is the purposeful use of physical force
that has the potential to cause harm, injury, disability, or even death. This type of violence can take many forms, including
hitting, kicking, stabbing, shooting, and other forms of physical aggression. Physical violence can occur in multiple contexts, such as domestic violence, street violence, school violence, and violence in the workplace. Regardless of the setting, physical violence has severe implications for both the victims and society at large.”
According to https://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2024/02/violent-neighborhoods-brain-development
“Decades of research has shown that growing up in neighborhoods with concentrated disadvantage can predict negative academic, behavioral and mental health outcomes in children and teens. And recent research is beginning to show that one way it does that is by impacting the developing brain,” said study coauthor Luke W. Hyde, PhD, of the University of Michigan. “However, less is known about how neighborhood disadvantage ‘gets under the skin’ to impact brain development.”
Overall, the researchers found that participants who lived in more disadvantaged neighborhoods reported more exposure to community violence. And participants who reported more exposure to community violence showed higher levels of amygdala reactivity to fearful and angry faces. The results held true even when controlling for an individual family’s income, parental education and other forms of violence exposure in the home, such as harsh parenting and intimate partner violence.
“This makes sense as it’s adaptive for adolescents to be more in tune to threats when living in a more dangerous neighborhood,” said Hyde.”
Strangely, high class and low class people are more prone to violence.
7.) Why did you treat me so badly?
Gen 43:6, “Then Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, by telling the man whether you still had another brother?”
Mat 7:12, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
Jesus Christ summarizes the Law and the Prophets, and sets a general principle for human behavior: Treat people the same way you want others to treat you.
Uncivilized people usually treat people badly and they do not know that they are uncivilized.
According to https://www.instituteforcivility.org/who-we-are/what-is-civility/#:~:text=It
“At the Institute for Civility, we believe the call to civility is nothing short of a call to our shared humanity where respect, kindness, compassion, and dialogue grow out of a commitment to an ever-deepening understanding of self and others.”
According to https://effectiviology.com/golden-rule/
“The golden rule is a moral principle which denotes that you should treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. For example, the golden rule means that if you want people to treat you with respect, then you should treat them with respect too.
The golden rule is an important philosophical principle, which has been formulated in various ways by many different groups throughout history, and which can be used to guide your actions in a variety of situations. As such, in the following article you will learn more about the golden rule, see how it can be refined, and understand how you can implement it in practice.”
Many do not know the so-celled golden rule was exactly BASED on the Words of Jesus:
Mat 7:12, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
In this wicked world, it is not a surprise that people will treat you badly. People do not follow the Word of God.
There are discrimination of all kinds, even in America.
I never encountered education discrimination because my university (a well-known top American university) asked me to go on for Ph.D. and I do not need to apply, they would take care of everything. I think my high GPA had a lot to do with that. But many Chinese students cannot get into Medical School even they had GPA 4.0. I never encountered police brutality. I do not have enough money to buy a house in a high class white neighborhood, so I do not know whether housing discrimination exists or not. Now they talk about “anti-Christian bias” within the federal government. When I worked for SEC under Chairman William Casey, there was no discrimination. In fact, I met a black woman who was a GS-7, she could not even do simple arithmetic. I wonder what was Civil Service good for. Then I realized the Federal Government was the golden rice bowl for many good-for-nothings. However, I encountered only one kind of discrimination in my career in America, which was job discrimination, I was under employed and underpaid. I was more qualified than all my supervisors. Things are not what they appeared to be. Under the cover there are many worms of injustice. Such is life that made people disappointing, Christians have their hope in the world to come. Not only that, almost all the wicked and bad people I had encountered were met at work. If I did not need to make a living, I would have never met or known them at all.
According to https://www.netimpact.org/blog/racial-discrimination-facts
“Discrimination is defined as unequal treatment of various groups based on social class, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, physical ability or some other category. Often lost in the discussion is the fact that discrimination is a crime. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that it is “illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. It is also illegal to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. The law further requires that employers reasonably accommodate applicants' and employees' sincerely held religious practices, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer's business.”
Col 3:5, “Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”
The Bible not only teaches you how to treat others, the Bible also teaches you how to treat your earthly body.
8.) Why have you repaid evil for good?
Gen 44:4, “They had just left the city, and were not far away, when Joseph said to his house steward, “Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil for good?”
There are people who will repay evil for good. This explains the depravity of mankind. Now if you can explain depravity, you may know the answer.
According to https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/concept-evil/
“Since World War II, moral, political, and legal philosophers have become increasingly interested in the concept of evil. This interest has been partly motivated by ascriptions of ‘evil’ by laymen, social scientists, journalists, and politicians as they try to understand and respond to various atrocities and horrors, such as genocides, terrorist attacks, mass murders, and tortures and killing sprees by psychopathic serial killers. It seems that we cannot capture the moral significance of these actions and their perpetrators by calling them ‘wrong’ or ‘bad’ or even ‘very very wrong’ or ‘very very bad.’ We need the concept of evil.
To avoid confusion, it is important to note that there are at least two concepts of evil: a broad concept and a narrow concept. The broad concept picks out any bad state of affairs, wrongful action, or character flaw. The suffering of a toothache is evil in the broad sense as is a harmless lie. Evil in the broad sense has been divided into two categories: natural evil and moral evil. Natural evils are bad states of affairs which do not result from the intentions or negligence of moral agents. Hurricanes and toothaches are examples of natural evils. By contrast, moral evils do result from the intentions or negligence of moral agents. Murder and lying are examples of moral evils.
Evil in the broad sense, which includes all natural and moral evils, tends to be the sort of evil referenced in theological contexts, such as in discussions of the problem of evil. The problem of evil is the problem of accounting for evil in a world created by an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good God. It seems that if the creator has these attributes, there would be no evil in the world. But there is evil in the world. Thus, there is reason to believe that an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good creator does not exist.
In contrast to the broad concept of evil, the narrow concept of evil picks out only the most morally despicable sorts of actions, characters, events, etc. As Marcus Singer puts it “‘evil’ [in this sense] … is the worst possible term of opprobrium imaginable” (Singer 2004, 185). Since the narrow concept of evil involves moral condemnation, it is appropriately ascribed only to moral agents and their actions. For example, if only human beings are moral agents, then only human beings can perform evil actions. Evil in this narrower sense is more often meant when the term ‘evil’ is used in contemporary moral, political, and legal contexts. This entry will focus on evil in this narrower sense. The entry will not discuss evil in the broad sense or the problem of evil to any significant degree (these topics will be discussed briefly only in section 2).”
There is reason to believe that an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good Creator and Ruler of the universe does exist. My answer is simple: evil people repay evil for good. However, the following Scriptures convince me that evil is a great mystery; only God will ultimately eliminate evil in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Amo 5:15, “Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the gate! Perhaps the LORD God of armies will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
Hab 2:9, “Woe to him who makes evil profit for his household,
to put his nest on high, to be saved from the hand of catastrophe!”
Zec 1:4, “Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, ‘This is what the LORD of armies says: “Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.”' But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the LORD.”
Mat 5:37, “But make sure your statement is, ‘Yes, yes' or ‘No, no'; anything beyond these is of evil origin.”
Mat 6:13, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Mat 9:4, “And Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?”
Mat 12:34-35, “You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, express any good things? For the mouth speaks from that which fills the heart. The good person
brings out of his good treasure good things; and the evil person brings out of his evil treasure evil things.”
Mat 13:38, “and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one.”
Mat 15:19-20, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts of adultery, other immoral sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and slanderous statements. These are the things that defile the person; but to eat with unwashed
hands does not defile the person.”
Luk 6:22, “Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man.”
Luk 6:35, “But love your enemies and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil people.”
Jhn 3:20, “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed.”
Rom 12:9, “Love must be free of hypocrisy. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.”
Rom 12:17, “Never repay evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right
in the sight of all people.”
Rom 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
21. Be not overcome, &c.] The verbs are in the singular; individualizing the appeal. The verse runs, lit., Be not thou overcome by the evil, but overcome the evil in the good.—“The evil,” “the good;”—that of the evil-doer and the sufferer respectively. Q. d., “Do not let his evil principles and acts conquer the better mind that is in thee by grace, but use ‘the good’ given to thee—the good of Divine peace and love shed abroad in thy heart—to subdue the evil in him.”—“In the good:” = under its influence.
Out of countless examples in Christian history we quote a recent one, from the Native Church in China. In 1878 a small and new Christian community was severely persecuted, and some of the converts, grownup men, were cruelly ill-used by a petty official, without the least resistance on their part. Some time after, this official was summoned before a superior officer, and sentenced to severe punishment. But one of his former victims, who meanwhile had not been his accusers, interposed and procured his pardon; and their enemy was turned forthwith into a grateful and cordial friend. (A. E. Moule’s Story of the Chehkiang Mission, ed. 2, p. 120.)”
Gal 1:3-5, “Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus
Christ, Who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this
present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen.”
I think, and think and think why the wicked act the way they do? By nature they are children of the devil.
1Jo 3:10, “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother and sister.”
Pay attention, my brother and sister. This is final truth. This is absolute truth which you cannot find in so-called science. This is the ultimate truth in Jesus Christ:
The children of God practice righteousness; the children of the devil practice evil.
9.) Why did you not obey the voice of the Lord?
1Sa 15:19, “Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD? Instead, you loudly rushed upon the spoils and did what was evil in the sight of the LORD!”
Mankind by nature is bad, and so it is easier to disobey than to obey the voice of the Lord. It is easier for man to do evil than to do right.
Pro 2:15, “Whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.”
The crooked will not obey the voice of the Lord.
The devious will not obey the voice of the Lord.
Pro 28:6, “Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity,
Than a person who is crooked, though he is rich.”
A poor person who walks in his integrity is better than a crooked rich man.
Mat 3:7, “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”
John the Baptist was not a flattering evangelist. The preacher called his converts, “offspring of vipers.” If a mega church pastor calls his congregation “offspring of vipers” -- the mega church will dwindle to a small church in a second.
Act 13:10, “and said, “You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop making crooked the straight ways of the Lord?”
Pall filled of the Holy Spirit, spoke of the Elymas the magician, who are full of all deceit and fraud, son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, making crooked the straight ways of the Lord.
People who are full of all deceit and fraud, sons of the devil, enemies of all righteousness, making crooked the straight ways of the Lord -- will not obey the voice of the Lord.
1Sa 15:22, “Samuel said, “Does the LORD have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, and to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.”
Saints, to obey the voice of the Lord is better than a sacrifice.
Jdg 2:20, “So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He said, “Because this nation has violated My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice.”
Psa 103:20, “Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His Word, obeying the voice of His Word!”
Isa 50:10, “Who is among you who fears the LORD, Who obeys the voice
of His servant, Who walks in darkness and has no light?
Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.”
Rev 19:6, “Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters, and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.”
When God reigns, unrighteousness, darkness, wickedness and injustice will be no more. The wicked will be no more. The voice of the Lord will be supreme. There is no voice which works against the voice of the Lord. There is no one who will say or do against the Word of God.
10.) Why do you wonder?
Rev 17:7, “And the angel said to me, “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.”
Wonder in Greek is thaumazō which means to marvel; have admiration; astonish at something awesomely mysterious; -- which occurs 44 times in the New Testament.
According to https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/hide-and-seek/201412/a-study-of-wonder
“wonder is the feeling of a philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder.
In the Metaphysics, Aristotle surmises that it must have been wonder that led the first philosophers to philosophy, since puzzled people think of themselves as ignorant and turn to philosophy to escape from their ignorance. Aquinas concurred, adding in his commentary on the Metaphysics that, ‘Because philosophy arises from awe, a philosopher is bound in his way to be a lover of myths and poetic fables. Poets and philosophers are alike in being big with wonder.’
Wonder is a complex emotion involving elements of surprise, curiosity, contemplation, and joy. It can be thought of as a heightened state of consciousness and emotion brought about by something unusually beautiful, rare, or unexpected—that is, by a marvel.
But notice how this kind of wonder is not the same as the more abstract wonder that moved Theætetus to philosophy. The wonder of the philosopher, also called Socratic wonder, is not so much wonder in the sense of awe as wonder in the sense of puzzlement or perplexity. Rather than grand vistas and the like, Socratic wonder arises from contradictions in thought and language, and impels us to investigate these contradictions in the hope of resolving them.
Socrates himself first came to philosophy, or his revolutionary method of doing philosophy, after being bewildered by the Delphic oracle, which, in spite of his professions of ignorance, pronounced him the wisest of all men. To get to the bottom of this seeming contradiction, Socrates questioned several supposedly wise men—first the politicians, then the poets, and then the artisans—and in each case concluded: “I am likely to be wiser than he to this small extent, that I do not think I know what I do not know.”
Wonder in the sense approaching awe is a universal experience found also in little children (picture a child at the circus or zoo) and even in higher-order primates and some other animals. Socratic wonder, in contrast, is much more rarefied, and, as Socrates implies by calling it ‘the feeling of a philosopher’, not given to all and sundry.
In his Advancement of Learning (1605), Francis Bacon called this kind of Socratic wonder ‘broken knowledge’, and there is a sense in which wonder, which may be cognate to the German Wunde [wound], breaches us and draws us out of ourselves. This breach yearns to be filled, not only by philosophy but also by science, religion, and art, giving rise to a third and even more exalted kind of wonder, which is the wonder of insight and creation.
Like Plato and others, the philosopher AN Whitehead (d. 1947) noted that ‘philosophy begins in wonder’, adding that, ‘at the end, when the philosophic thought has done its best, the wonder remains.’ But more than remain, the wonder grows. Scientific breakthroughs such as Kepler’s laws of planetary motion and the periodic table of the elements are often more wondrous than the perplexities that they had been intended to solve. Wonder begets culture, which begets yet more wonder, and the end of wonder is wisdom, which is the state of perpetual wonder.
According to https://www.psychologicalscience.org/news/why-mind-wandering-can-be-actually-good-for-you.html
“Mind wandering can serve many purposes for people, including relief from boredom, exploration of the imagination and distraction from unpleasant or harmful thoughts and images, says Dr. Chanda Reynolds, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Washington.”
2Co 11:14, “No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
And no marvel - And it is not wonderful, 2 Corinthians 11:15. Since Satan himself is capable of appearing to be an angel of light, it is not to be deemed strange that those who are in his service also should resemble him.
For Satan himself is transformed ... - That is, he who is an apostate angel; who is malignant and wicked; who is the prince of evil, assumes the appearance of a holy angel. Paul assumes this as an indisputable and admitted truth, without attempting to prove it, and without referring to any particular instances. Probably he had in his eye cases where Satan put on false and delusive appearances for the purpose of deceiving, or where he assumed the appearance of great sanctity and reverence for the authority of God. Such instances occurred in the temptation of our first parents Genesis 3:1-6, and in the temptation of the Saviour, Matthew 4. The phrase "an angel of light," means a pure and holy angel, light being the emblem of purity and holiness. Such are all the angels that dwell in heaven; and the idea is, that Satan assumes such a form as to appear to be such an angel. Learn here:
(1) His power. He can assume such an aspect as he pleases. He can dissemble and appear to be eminently pious. He is the prince of duplicity as well as of wickedness; and it is the consummation of bad power for an individual to be able to assume any character which he pleases.
(2) his art. he is long practiced in deceitful arts. For six thousand years he has been practicing the art of delusion. And with him it is perfect.
(3) we are not to sup pose that all that appears to be piety is piety. Some of the most plausible appearances of piety are assumed by Satan and his ministers. None ever professed a profounder regard for the authority of God than Satan did when he tempted the Saviour. And if the prince of wickedness can appear to be an angel of light, we are not to be surprised if those who have the blackest hearts appear to be people of most eminent piety.
(4) we should be on our guard. We should not listen to suggestions merely because they appear to come from a pious man, nor because they seem to be prompted by a regard to the will of God. We may be always sure that, if we are to be tempted, it will be by some one having a great appearance of virtue and religion.
(5) we are not to expect that Satan will appear to man to be as bad as he is. He never shows himself openly to be a spirit of pure wickedness; or black and abominable in his character; or full of evil and hateful. He would thus defeat himself. It is for this reason that wicked people do not believe that there is such a being as Satan. Though continually under his influence and "led captive by him at his will," yet they neither see him nor the chains which lead them, nor are they willing to believe in the existence of the one or the other.”
If you know even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
You would not wonder why his agents have smooth tricks, deceptive tricks, etc.
Isa 32:7, “The smooth tricks of scoundrels are evil. They plot crooked schemes.
They lie to convict the poor, even when the cause of the poor is just.”
Num 25:18, “for they have been hostile to you with their deceptive tricks, with which they have deceived you in the affair of Peor and in the affair of Cozbi, the daughter of the leader of Midian, their sister who was slain on the day of the plague because of Peor.”
11.) Why have you despised the Word of the Lord by doing evil?
2Sa 12:9, “Why have you despised the Word of the LORD, by doing evil in His sight? You have struck and killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, you have taken his wife as your wife, and you have slaughtered him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.”
Despise in Hebrew is bāzâ which means to disesteem:— disdain, contemn, think to scorn (Strong’s Concordance); look down; trample with the feet; make light of; -- which occurs 43 times in the Old Testament. A person can violate the Word of God because of the wrong motive: the wrong motive of money, the wrong motive of power, or the wrong motive of pleasure. I do not know there is other motives? In the case of David, I guess it was sex or pleasure. A bad or wrong motive can drive a person to despise the Word of God by doing evil.
“Psychologists have divided motives into three types—Biological motives, social motives and personal motives!
The goal here may be fulfillment of a want or a need. Whenever a need arises the organism is driven to fulfil that want or need. If there is no need in the organism, there will be no behaviour. For example, Horse and water. Horse does not drink water unless it has thirst or if it is not motivated. Unlike the external stimuli, the motives are limited.
The behaviour to fulfil such needs is mechanical and alike in all the organisms. Hunger is a motive which stimulates the organism to have food. We develop hunger when the food that was taken earlier is exhausted.
The need for food drives us to go in search of food and to have it. Here the hunger motive not only initiated the action, but also continued until the goal (having food) is reached. The motives are powerful forces.
They do not allow us to stop our action or behaviour until the need is satisfied. Hence, they are called the ‘dynamos’ of behaviour.
Types of Motives:
Biological Motivation and Homeostasis:
Biological motives are called as physiological motives. These motives are essential for the survival of the organism. Such motives are triggered when there is imbalancement in the body. The body always tends to maintain a state of equilibrium called “Homeostasis”- in many of its internal physiological processes.
This balance is very essential for the normal life. Homeostasis helps to maintain internal physiological processes at optimal levels. The nutritional level, fluid level, temperature level, etc., are maintained at certain optimal level or homeostasis levels. When there is some variation in these levels the individual is motivated for restoring the state of equilibrium.”
I can see the gaps and loopholes the psychologists have made, but I am not going to waste time in criticizing them.
For whatever motive, no one can escape money, power and pleasure. For that reason, the saints have to beware and watch out what the Bible calls “flesh”.
Mat 26:41, “Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Jhn 1:13, “who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God.”
The will of the flesh is contrary to the will of God.
Jhn 3:6, “That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Jhn 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no
benefit; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life.”
Rom 8:5-8, “For those who are in accord with the flesh
set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile
toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Rom 8:13, “for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
Rom 13:14, “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.”
2Co 7:1, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let's cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
Gal 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no
longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Gal 5:13, “For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.
Gal 5:16-17, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.
Gal 5:19, “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior.”
Gal 5:24, “Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with
its passions and desires.”
Gal 6:8, “For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.”
Eph 2:3, “Among them we too all previously lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the rest.”
Phl 3:3, “for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and take pride in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.”
1Pe 4:2, “so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no
longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.”
If you know how to live for the will of God, you know how to live.
1Jo 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”
Those who do evil always despised the Word of the Lord. I often wonder why people knowingly do evil.
12.) Why have you done so?
2Sa 16:10, “But the king said, “What business of mine is yours, you sons of Zeruiah? If he curses, and if the LORD has told him, ‘Curse David,' then who should say, ‘Why have you done so?”
Often it is difficult to answer why a person has done so. Years ago I invented a theory called IVP (Intelligence, Value, and Personality). I believe the action of a person is often the result and combination of his/her IVP. Please read my article on https://williewongthought.hpage.com/ivp.html
ALTHOUGH MANKIND IS MADE OF INTELLIGENCE, VALUE AND PERSONALITY (IVP), BUT MAN IS SINFUL AND SO ALL THEORIES ABOUT MAN IS FLAWED; ONLY THE WORD OF GOD IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
According to my THEORY OF MAN, my philosophical theory: A mankind is made of intelligence, value, and personality. What about the Bible says about the trinity of man, 1Th 5:23, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete, without blame at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I have never met a person who has the right intelligence, the right values and the right personality.
The Holy Bible speaks about the theological concept of human being, spirit and soul and body, in relation to God. The Word of God is absolutely and supremely and ultimately right. My knowledge of the divine truth is so little, I cannot right now explain the difference between spirit and soul. Someday I hope to be able to do that.
Over the years, I discover to understand a human being, you have to understand how his/her intelligence, value and personality work together. It is hard enough to understand what is intelligence, value and personality which is unique to a person.
No one has the same intelligence, value, and personality with another person. A mankind is what he/she is because he/she is made up by his/her intelligence, value and personality. So it is very important to know what is intelligence, value and personality. Secondly, it is quite important to understand how intelligence, value, and personality influence each other. Either of them can become dominant in making a decision.
An individual makes a decision completely based upon his intelligence, value and personality, if not influenced by other factors. A dominant factor is the deciding factor. Have you ever thought why do you enter a house through the door and not climbing in through a window?
By nature and nurture your intelligence wholly belongs to you. Generally speaking, intelligence is the ability to differentiate between good and evil, right and wrong, important and unimportant, above and below, beneficial and harmful, far and near, high and low, eternal and temporal, spiritual and carnal, heavenly and earthly, etc.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said something that many do not understand, “Character is higher than intellect... A great soul will be strong to live, as well as strong to think.”
After living in America a long time I discovered, “Ability without opportunity is a bird without wings.” In my corporate life, I only once encountered the most unusual executive called Jim King. He did something no executive had ever done before: He put an able staff to lead line executives or supervisors. One day in a meeting Mr. King appointed me to be in charge of a corporate project that put VP of Finance, Controller, and General Manager (who was my direct supervisor) under my leadership. When the project was successfully completed, he did not forget to order giving me a bonus of $2,000. Uncle Sam took half of it.
There are people who decide things against normal and common values because they have other motivations or reasons to make them to do things most people would not do. For the love of a woman, a man may do things that others may not. For the love of money, many do things that normal people would not do. A clear example, for supremacy and world domination, Western leaders and politicians do evil things clearly contrary to the Word of God.
Jim Rohn said, “The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become.”
Job 28:13, “Mankind does not know its value,
Nor is it found in the land of the living.” It is pathetic that mankind does not know its value. The whole world is practicing the values of money, power, and sex.
Stephen Covey said, “Everyone has values; even criminal gangs have values. Values govern people's behavior but principles govern the consequences of those behaviors.”
If I know your value, pretty much I can predict your behavior.
It is very difficult to find a person who is in balance of the most important things.
According to https://www.britannica.com/topic/personality
“personality, a characteristic way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Personality embraces moods, attitudes, and opinions and is most clearly expressed in interactions with other people. It includes behavioral characteristics, both inherent and acquired, that distinguish one person from another and that can be observed in people’s relations to the environment and to the social group.
The term personality has been defined in many ways, but as a psychological concept two main meanings have evolved. The first pertains to the consistent differences that exist between people: in this sense, the study of personality focuses on classifying and explaining relatively stable human psychological characteristics. The second meaning emphasizes those qualities that make all people alike and that distinguish psychological man from other species; it directs the personality theorist to search for those regularities among all people that define the nature of man as well as the factors that influence the course of lives. This duality may help explain the two directions that personality studies have taken: on the one hand, the study of ever more specific qualities in people, and, on the other, the search for the organized totality of psychological functions that emphasizes the interplay between organic and psychological events within people and those social and biological events that surround them. The dual definition of personality is interwoven in most of the topics discussed below. It should be emphasized, however, that no definition of personality has found universal acceptance within the field.”
Why have you done so can be due to your Intelligence becomes the dominant factor, or your Value becomes the dominant factor; or your Personality becomes the dominant factor. Mankind does not have the ability to perceive the heart of another man. Good parents should often ask their children, Why have you done so? But that is only after the fact. I was a stupid boy and acted like a stupid boy; had it not for the grace of God, I would have been drowned and eaten by a crocodile.
Out of the meanness of a mean man, what he has done must be mean. Out of the wickedness of the wicked, his behavior must be wicked. By nature, a person will show in words and deeds. Sometimes, a person does something which does not have any specific reason. A person may not know what he is doing.
13.) Why is your face sad though you are not ill?
Neh 2:2, “So the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, though you are not ill? This is nothing but sadness of heart.” Then I was very much afraid.”
King Artaxerxes was wise that he observed the appearance of his servant correctly. There are things that can make a person sad even though he/she is not ill.
Nehemiah answered the king:
Neh 2:3, “And I said to the king, “May the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the site of my fathers’ tombs, is desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?”
Apparently there is a direct relation between a burden of the heart and the sadness of the face.
Anaxagoras said, “Appearances are a glimpse of the unseen.”
Aesop said, “Appearances are often deceiving.”
Edwin Hubbel Chapin said, “Do not judge men by mere appearances; for the light laughter that bubbles on the lip often mantles over the depths of sadness, and the serious look may be the sober veil that covers a divine peace and joy.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Every natural fact is a symbol of some spiritual fact. Every appearance in nature corresponds to some state of the mind, and that state of the mind can only be described by presenting that natural appearance as its picture.”
Edwin Paxton Hood said, “Weeds grow sometimes very much like flowers, and you can't tell the difference between true and false merely by the shape.”
According to https://pediaa.com/what-is-the-difference-between-appearance-and-reality/
“The main difference between appearance and reality is that appearance is the way something looks, while the reality is the state of things as they actually exist or the true state of something.
Appearances are often deceiving and misleading. What we see is not always true, and we cannot judge someone or something by looking at the outward appearance. It is because how someone looks on the outside is not always how they are on the inside. And, this is where the concept of appearance and reality comes into being. In brief, appearance is how something appears to be while the reality is how something actually is.”
1Sa 16:7, “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God does not see as man sees, since man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Jhn 7:24, “Do not judge by the outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
John 7:24. Μὴ κρίνετε κατʼ ὄψιν, ἀλλὰ τὴν δικαίαν κρίσιν κρίνατε, judge not according to the appearance, but judge true judgment) On that Sabbath, which fell among the days of the Feast of Tabernacles (the Sabbath moreover had fallen this year on the fifth day of the feast), there used to be read the book Ecclesiastes, a great portion of which is this very precept as to avoiding superficial judgment and holding to right judgment. [It is also judging according to appearance, or (what is the same) according to the flesh; ch. John 8:15, “Ye judge after the flesh,” when the letter is taken independently of the (spiritual) sense. Christ Himself judges according to truth. Isaiah 11:3-4, “He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears, But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth.”—V. g.]—τήν) The judgment that is true, is one.[186] This is the force of the article.
[186] Whilst false judgments are many.—E. and T.”
14.) Why is light given to one burdened with grief?
Job 3:20, “Why is light given to one burdened with grief,
and life to the bitter of soul.”
The question is profound, and there is a concealed element of complaint against God indirectly.
Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
20. Wherefore is light given] This is a possible translation, but more probably we should render, wherefore gives He light? the Author of light and life being alluded to obliquely and not named. The bitter is plur., those that are bitter in soul. Job’s eye looks over mankind and sees many in the same condition of misery as himself. Comp. ch. Job 7:1 seq.
20–26. Why does God continue life to the wretched, who long for death?
The vision of the peacefulness of death passes away, and Job awakens again to the consciousness of his real condition, and his words, which had sunk into calmness as he contemplated the peace of death, now seem to rise again like the storm after a lull, Wherefore gives He light to him that is in misery? He does not name though he alludes to God, and the indirect reference though partly due to reverence betrays a rising alienation in his heart. His question is one of anguish and impatience. His own condition throws its gloom over all human life, and he puts the question first generally, Job 3:20-22; there are many like him seeking death and unable to find it, who would exult for joy if they could find the grave. Then he comes to the individual, Job 3:23, meaning himself, Wherefore gives He life to the man whose way is hid? the man who cannot see and cannot move, who can discover no solution of the riddle of his life, and find no course of action to relieve himself, who lies in the grasp of a calamity which has too surely come from God, and which has introduced confusion among all the principles of religion which he has hitherto held and into the relation to God in which he has hitherto stood, Job 3:23. And finally he adds some touches to the picture of his misery, his constant moaning, and the unbroken succession of troubles that afflict him, which come so thick that he has no respite from one before another overtakes him, Job 3:24-26.”
Pulpit Commentary
Verse 20. - Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery? Why, Job asks, is the miserable man forced to continue on the earth and see the light to-day? Why is he not sent down at once to the darkness of the grave? Surely this would have been better. Man often speaks as if he were wiser than his Maker, and could have much improved the system of the universe, if he had had the arranging of it; but he scarcely means what he says commonly. Such talk is, however, foolish, as is all captious questioning concerning the ways of God. The proper answer to all such questioning is well given by Zophar in Job 11:7, 8, "Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell (Sheol); what canst thou know?" And life unto the bitter in soul (see the comment on ver. 11, ad fin.).”
According to https://biblehub.com/topical/g/grumbling_against_god.htm#:~:text=Grumbling
“Grumbling against God refers to the act of complaining, murmuring, or expressing dissatisfaction with God's actions, provisions, or plans. This behavior is often characterized by a lack of faith and trust in God's sovereignty and goodness. Throughout the Bible, grumbling is depicted as a serious offense against God, reflecting a rebellious heart and a failure to recognize His divine authority and benevolence.
Trusting in God's sovereignty involves acknowledging His control over all circumstances and believing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). This trust is essential in overcoming the temptation to grumble.”
According to https://biblehub.com/topical/s/symbolism_of_burdens.htm#:~:text=The%20symbolism
“The symbolism of burdens in the Bible is multifaceted, encompassing themes of sin, responsibility, suffering, community, divine provision, and judgment. Through these images, Scripture communicates profound truths about the human experience and God's redemptive work in the world.”
Psa 38:4, “For my guilty deeds have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.”
Guilty deeds, sin, worry, shortage, need, physical sickness, etc. can be burdens.
According to https://trustinthebible.com/types-of-burdens-in-the-bible/
“Types of Burdens in the Bible
#1. Spiritual Burdens
Spiritual burdens in the Bible often revolve around sin and guilt. The weight of wrongdoing can weigh heavily on a person’s soul, leading to feelings of shame and separation from God. In Psalm 38:4, David expresses the anguish of his sin, saying,
“My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.”
Recognizing our need for forgiveness and seeking reconciliation with God can help alleviate these spiritual burdens.
#2. Physical Burdens
Physical burdens mentioned in the Bible include labor and toil, as seen in Genesis 3:17-19 where Adam is cursed to toil for his food. Illness and suffering are also common physical burdens, as seen in the story of Job who endured great physical afflictions. Despite these challenges, the Bible offers hope in passages like Psalm 34:19, which says, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
#3. Emotional Burdens
Emotional burdens such as anxiety and worry are addressed in the Bible, with verses like Philippians 4:6-7 encouraging believers to cast their anxieties on God. Grief and sorrow are also common emotional burdens, as seen in the story of Jesus weeping at the death of Lazarus. The Bible offers comfort and healing for these emotional burdens, reminding us of God’s presence in our times of need.
#4. Social and Relational Burdens
Social and relational burdens can manifest in interpersonal conflicts and the responsibility for others. In Matthew 18:15-17, Jesus provides a framework for resolving conflicts within the church. Bearing one another’s burdens is also emphasized in Galatians 6:2, highlighting the importance of supporting one another in times of need. By following biblical principles of forgiveness and reconciliation, we can navigate these social and relational burdens with grace.
#5. Financial and Material Burdens
Financial and material burdens such as poverty and debts are addressed in the Bible, with verses like Proverbs 22:7 cautioning against the dangers of debt. However, the Bible also offers hope for those facing financial struggles, with promises of provision and abundance in passages like Philippians 4:19. By trusting in God’s provision and practicing good stewardship, we can overcome these burdens with faith.
#6. Religious and Ritualistic Burdens
Religious and ritualistic burdens can arise from legalistic practices and sacrificial requirements. In Matthew 23:4, Jesus warns against burdensome religious practices imposed by the Pharisees.
The New Testament emphasizes the freedom found in Christ from the burdens of the law, as seen in Galatians 5:1 which says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Embracing the grace and freedom found in Christ can release us from these religious burdens.”
On a glance, I disagree with Religious and Ritualistic Burdens which do not exist for Christians in the New Testament. I do not intend to waste time on them.
There are many questions which we do not have the answers. Our knowledge is limited. Our experience is limited. Mankind is limited in everything.15.) Why are you restless within me?
Psa 42:5, “Why are you in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me?
Wait for God, for I will again praise Him for the help of His presence, my God.”
Because the present life is full of troubles and tragedies, many of us become restless within.
Jesus says, Mat 11:28, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
When a person is weary and burdened, naturally he becomes restless within.
A person can be restless within and it has nothing to do with physical weariness.

“Anxiety Disorder Types
Anxiety is not just nervousness. There are both psychological symptoms and physical symptoms. It's not uncommon for those with anxiety to experience:
Rapid heartbeat (heart palpitations)
Excessive trembling and sweating
Nausea and dizziness
Chest pain and headaches
Weakness in the limbs and muscle tension
There are even less common physical symptoms like rashes, leg pain, and a feeling of choking.
Of course, anxiety is known as a mental health disorder for a reason. Those with anxiety often find themselves with compulsive worrying, irrational fears, trouble branching out socially and more. Anxiety is both a physical and mental issue that affects millions of people all over the world.
It's crucial that you understand what anxiety you're suffering from and how it affects you. Psychologists convene regularly to discuss how to categorize anxiety disorders, and according to recent scientific interpretations, there are 7 categories of anxiety disorders. Here's the list of different anxiety disorders:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Social Phobia
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Phobias
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Pay close attention to the descriptions of each type of anxiety and see if the symptoms seem like the ones you're suffering from. It is possible to feel as though you're suffering from more than one type of anxiety.
Remember, however, that you shouldn't diagnose yourself. Only a mental health professional is qualified to diagnose you with a mental health disorder.
According to https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/a-different-kind-of-therapy/202212/the-7-kinds-of-res
“Saundra Dalton-Smith, M.D., the author of Sacred Rest, writes that “rest is the most underused, chemical-free, safe and effective, alternative therapy available to us.” As such, she developed the concept of the seven rests our body and mind need to combat chronic rest deficits.
1. Physical rest
Not surprisingly, the first rest we need as humans is physical rest. This is a rest from the physical activities that fatigue us. Sleep, relaxation, and napping fall under the category of physical rest. Paradoxically, so does "active" physical rest (as much as it may sound like an oxymoron). Active physical rest refers to light, restorative activities, such as yoga, stretching, or massages.
2. Mental rest
Are you a person whose brain turns on the second you hit the pillow? You may be struggling with a mental rest deficit. Sleep is helpful, but never feels restorative enough. Relying on coffee to get you through the day may work in the short-run, but in the long-run further perpetuates racing thoughts, worries, or mental processing.
article continues after advertisement
To assist with mental rest, Dalton-Smith encourages short breaks throughout the work day, or journaling before bedtime. One activity I often engage in with my own clients to assist with mental chatter is something called "thought diffusion." Thought diffusion is a mental exercise to help create distance between thoughts and emotions. It is the concept of observing thoughts as they flow in and gently allowing them to pass without placing any pressure on them to move faster or slower. One can use the metaphor of leaves floating down a stream, or clouds passing in the sky.
3. Sensory rest
We live in a world of constant stimulation: screens, conversations, lights, music, pets, children, etc. Dalton-Smith discusses the concept of intentional moments of sensory deprivation to help recharge ourselves from being overstimulated. In my own practice, I often advise clients to allow at least 45 minutes without screen time before bed.
Another helpful exercise is something called "Five senses grounding." Five senses grounding allows us to focus on one sense at a time and become present and grounded within it.
4. Emotional rest
Emotional rest allows us the space to be authentic. If someone asks you how you’re doing after recognizing you are visibly upset, and you respond with, "fine," such a suppression of emotions places added internal pressure on you.
Instead, we can allow ourselves to be authentic, stating, “I’m actually really frustrated with __.” This release and authenticity allow our emotional circuit to feel more rested. Emotional rest also means surrounding ourselves with others who help provide emotional peace.
5. Social rest
Understanding whether you are an introvert, or an extrovert is important. Do you gain energy from others, or do you feel drained after spending time with others? Understanding the limits of our "social battery" can help us realize when we need to recharge. This is a crucial conversation to have with your partner, as people have different thresholds of sociability. One partner may be ready to leave the party three hours in, while the second partner is just getting started.
6. Creative rest
For those of us working in creative fields, creative rest is an absolute must. How often do we struggle with writer’s block, creative fatigue, or burnout from brainstorming or problem-solving? One way to achieve creative rest is to surround yourself with inspiration while simultaneously taking the pressure off having to "do" something with it.
article continues after advertisement
Dalton-Smith suggests, for example, surrounding yourself with nature and simply allowing yourself to feel. Creative rest can also look like stepping away from a problem or project for some time to allow your brain to recharge without pressure.
7. Spiritual rest
Finally, our body and mind may crave spiritual rest. Spiritual rest means connecting on a deeper level with something greater than ourselves. This can mean adding prayer, meditation, or purpose to our lives. I often encourage my clients to find a sense of community through groups or organizations that create acceptance and intention. This can be through a church, a volunteer program, community outreach, or even nature retreats.”
I disagree with 7. Spiritual rest as described. The real spiritual rest is what Jesus may give cited on Mat 11:28,” Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -- which no psychologists or counselors can give.
Augustine said, “Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.”
16.) Why must he be put to death?
1Sa 20:32, “But Jonathan replied to his father Saul and said to him, “Why must he be put to death? What has he done?”
You cannot put a person to death for nothing. It is a serious matter to kill a person. For that reason, in the Ten Commandment, God says:
No. 6, You shall not murder.
According to https://thisvsthat.io/killing-vs-murder
“Killing and murder are two distinct actions that involve the taking of someone's life, but they differ in terms of intent and legality. Killing refers to the act of causing someone's death, which can occur in various circumstances such as self-defense, accidents, or during war. It does not necessarily imply wrongdoing or criminal intent. On the other hand, murder is the intentional and unlawful killing of another person. It involves premeditation, malice aforethought, and a conscious decision to end someone's life without legal justification. Murder is considered a serious crime and is punishable by law in most jurisdictions. While both actions result in the loss of life, the key distinction lies in the intent and legality surrounding the act.”
Human history speaking, the first murderer was Cain who killed his brother Abel.
Gen 9:6, “Whoever sheds human blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God He made mankind.”
It was God Himself who instituted capital punishment or death penalty.
The second restriction guards human life. The shedding of human blood is sternly prohibited. "Your blood of your lives." The blood which belongs to your lives, which constitutes the very life of your corporeal nature. "Will I require." I, the Lord, will find the murderer out, and exact the penalty of his crime. The very beast that causes the death of man shall be slain. The suicide and the homicide are alike accountable to God for the shedding of man's blood. The penalty of murder is here proclaimed - death for death. It is an instance of the law of retaliation. This is an axiom of moral equity. He that deprives another of any property is bound to make it good or to suffer the like loss.
The first law promulgated in Scripture was that between Creator and creature. If the creature refuse to the Creator the obedience due, he forfeits all the Creator has given him, and, therefore, his life. Hence, when Cain murdered his brother, he only displayed a new development of that sin which was in him, and, being already condemned to the extreme penalty under the first transgression, had only a minor punishment annexed to his personal crime. And so it continued to be in the antediluvian world. No civil law is on record for the restriction of crime. Cain, indeed, feared the natural vengeance which his conscience told him his sin deserved. But it was not competent in equity for the private individual to undertake the enforcement of the penalties of natural law. So long as the law was between Creator and creature, God himself was not only the sole legislator, but the sole administrator of law.
The second law is that between creature and creature, which is here introduced on the occasion of giving permission to partake of animal food, as the first was published on that of granting the use of vegetable diet. In the former case, God is the administrator of the law, as he is the immediate and sovereign party in the legal compact. In the latter case, man is, by the express appointment of the Lord of all, constituted the executive agent. "By man shall his blood be shed." Here, then, is the formal institution of civil government. Here the civil sword is committed to the charge of man. The judgment of death by the executioner is solemnly delegated to man in vindication of human life. This trust is conveyed in the most general terms. "By man." The divine legislator does not name the sovereign, define his powers, or determine the law of succession. All these practical conditions of a stable government are left open questions.
The emphasis is laid solely on "man." On man is impressively laid the obligation of instituting a civil constitution suited to his present fallen condition. On the nation as a body it is an incumbent duty to select the sovereign, to form the civil compact between prince and people, to settle the prerogative of the sovereign and the rights of the subjects, to fix the order of succession, to constitute the legislative, judicial, and administrative bodies, and to render due submission to the constituted authorities. And all these arrangements are to be made according to the principles of Scripture and the light of nature.
The reason why retribution is exacted in the case of man is here also given. "For in the image of God has he made man." This points on the one hand to the function of the magistrate, and on the other to the claims of the violated law; and in both respects illustrates the meaning of being created in the image of God. Man resembles God in this, that he is a moral being, judging of right and wrong, endowed with reason and will, and capable of holding and exercising rights. Hence, he is in the first place competent to rule, and on his creation authorized to exercise a mild and moral sway over the inferior creatures. His capacity to govern even among his fellow-men is now recognized. The function of self-government in civil things is now conferred upon man. When duly called to the office, he is declared to be at liberty to discharge the part of a ruler among his fellow-men, and is entitled on the ground of this divine arrangement to claim the obedience of those who are under his sway. He must rule in the Lord, and they must obey in the Lord.
However, in the next place, man is capable of, and has been actually endowed with, rights of property in himself, his children, his industrial products, his purchases, his receipts in the way of gift, and his claims by covenant or promise. He can also recognize such rights in another. When, therefore, he is deprived of anything belonging to him, he is sensible of being wronged, and feels that the wrongdoer is bound to make reparation by giving back what he has taken away, or an equivalent in its place. This is the law of requital, which is the universal principle of justice between the wrongdoer and the wrong-sufferer. Hence, the blood of him who sheds blood is to be shed. And, in setting up a system of human government, the most natural and obvious case is given, according to the manner of Scripture, as a sample of the law by which punishment is to be inflicted on the transgressor in proportion to his crime. The case in point accordingly arises necessarily out of the permission to use animal food, which requires to be guarded on the one hand by a provision against cruelty to animals, and, on the other, by an enactment forbidding the taking away of human life, on the pain of death, by order of the civil magistrate. This case, then, turns out to be the most heinous crime which man can commit against his fellow-man, and strikingly exemplifies the great common principle of retributive justice.
The brute is not a moral being, and has, therefore, no proper rights in itself. Its blood may therefore be shed with impunity. Nevertheless, man, because he is a moral being, owes a certain negative duty to the brute animal, because it is capable of pain. He is not to inflict gratuitous or unnecessary suffering on a being susceptible of such torture. Hence, the propriety of the blood being shed before the flesh is used for food. Life, and therefore the sense of pain, is extinguished when the blood is withdrawn from the veins.”
To kill or murder a person is the most serious matter whether by gun, knife or whatever.
The following nations who pretend to be Christian and yet they rejected the commandment of the Lord and abolished death penalty instituted by God:
PORTUGAL, DENMARK, LUXEMBOURG, NORWAY, FRANCE,
NETHERLANDS, AUSTRALIA, LIECHTENSTEIN,
GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, NEW ZEALAND,
ROMANIA, HUNGARY, IRELAND, SWITZERLAND, ITALY, SPAIN, BELGIUM, POLAND, CANADA, UNITED KINGDOM, etc.
I don’t mind if they call themselves pagan or heathen nations, just do not claim or pretend to be Christian by flagrantly violating the Word of God.
17.) Why do you listen to the words of men?
1Sa 24:9, “And David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Behold, David is seeking to harm you'?”
The words of men are key factors how people behave. The words of men include so-called scientists, co-workers, neighbors, friends, relatives, people seem to be wise, rich people, powerful people, etc.
Lately there are many so-called psychologists who offer fatal advices to people who are ignorant or uninformed. There seem to be solutions or remedies which are not.
According to
“https://ideas.ted.com/peoples-words-and-actions-can-actually-shape-your-brain-a-neuroscientist-explains-how/
“How do the people around you influence your body budget and rewire your adult brain? Your brain changes its wiring after new experiences, a process called plasticity. Microscopic parts of your neurons change gradually every day. Branch-like dendrites become bushier, and their associated neural connections become more efficient. Little by little, your brain becomes tuned and pruned as you interact with others.
Some brains are more attentive to the people around them and others less so, but everybody has somebody. Ultimately, your family, friends, neighbors and even strangers contribute to your brain’s structure and function and help your brain keep your body humming along.
This co-regulation has measurable effects. When you’re with someone you care about, your breathing can synchronize, as can the beating of your hearts — whether you’re in casual conversation or a heated argument. This sort of physical connection happens between infants and caregivers, therapists and clients, even people taking a yoga class or singing in a choir together.
We also adjust each other’s body budgets by our actions. If you raise your voice or just your eyebrow, you can affect what goes on inside other people’s bodies, such as their heart rate or the chemicals carried in their bloodstream. If a loved one is in pain, you can lessen their suffering merely by holding their hand.
Being a social species has all sorts of advantages for us humans, including the fact that we live longer if we have close, supportive relationships with others. Studies show that if you and your partner feel that your relationship is intimate and caring, that you’re responsive to each other’s needs and that life seems enjoyable when you’re together, both of you are less likely to get sick.
And if you’re already sick with a serious illness, such as cancer or heart disease, you’re more likely to get better. These studies were conducted on married couples, but the results appear to hold for close friendships and for pet owners too.
Why do the words you encounter have such wide-ranging effects inside you? Because many brain regions that process language also control the insides of your body, including major organs and systems that manage your body budget.
These brain regions are contained in what scientists call the “language network” and guide your heart rate up and down. They adjust the glucose entering your bloodstream to fuel your cells. They change the flow of chemicals that support your immune system.
The power of words is not a metaphor; it’s in our brain wiring. We see similar wiring in other animals; for example, neurons that are important for birdsong also control the organs of a bird’s body.
Words, then, are tools for regulating human bodies. Other people’s words have a direct effect on your brain activity and your bodily systems, and your words have that same effect on other people. Whether you intend that effect is irrelevant. It’s how we’re wired.
Does this mean that words can be harmful to your health? In small doses, not really. When someone says things you don’t like, insults you or even threatens your physical safety, you might feel awful.”
Some should not make any suggestions or comments because their words not only unworthy, they are harmful.
You have to be a strong person by not being influenced by others. Adam listened to the words of his wife and did wrong. When you judge the words of men, you have to take into account of the source of information, the motive of the speakers, the consequence of taking the words seriously, and the consequence of rejection.
There is a historical event that tells how important a human advice can be:
2Sa 16:20-23, “Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your advice. What should we do?”
Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Have relations with your father’s concubines, whom he has left behind to take care of the house; then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself repulsive to your father. The hands of all who are with you will also be strengthened.”
So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and Absalom had relations with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel. Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was taken as though one inquired of the Word of God; so was all the advice of Ahithophel regarded by both David and Absalom.”
What is Ahithophel? In Hebrew Ahithophel is 'ăḥîṯōp̄el,
“Ahithophel = "my brother is foolish (folly)"
a counsellor of David, grandfather of Bathsheba (cf 2Sa 11:3, 23:34), who joined Absalom in revolt against David, and committed suicide when Absalom did not heed his counsel (Strong’s Concordance); -- which occurs 20 times in the Old Testament.
Ahithophel, not his brother was foolish. He himself was foolish to give shameful and sinful advice to Absalom to rape his father’s concubines. When his counsel was rejected, Ahithophel committed suicide. It was a fool who commits suicide. I have never known a person whose advice WAS taken as the Word of God. So beware when you listen to the words of men, especially those who claim to be scientists. Strangely, there are people who listen to the words of men.
18.) Why is there money in the hand of a fool?
Pro 17:16, “Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, when he has no sense?”
Evidently there are more rich fools than rich wise men.
Money can buy many things; one thing that money cannot buy is wisdom.
Voltaire said, “Dont think money does everything or you are going to end up doing everything for money.”
Garth Brooks said, “You aren't wealthy until you have something money can't buy.”
William Arthur Ward said, “Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. Before you retire, save. Before you die, give.”
John Locke said, “Our incomes are like our shoes; if too small, they gall and pinch us; but if too large, they cause us to stumble and to trip".
Benjamin Franklin said, “Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants.”
George Horace Lorimer said, “It is good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good too, to check up once in a while and make sure you haven't lost the things money can't buy.”
Henry Ford said, “If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.”
John Ruskin said. “A little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money.”
Henrik Ibsen said, “Money may be the husk of many things but not the kernel. It brings you food, but not appetite; medicine, but not health; acquaintance, but not friends; servants, but not loyalty; days of joy, but not peace or happiness.”
Socrates said, “I do nothing but go about persuading you all, old and young alike, not to take thought for your persons or your properties, but and chiefly to care about the greatest improvement of the soul.”
Edmund Burke said, “If we command our wealth, we shall be rich and free; if our wealth commands us, we are poor indeed.”
Andrew Carnegie said, “There is no class so pitiably wretched as that which possesses money and nothing else.”
Louisa May Alcott said, “Simple, genuine goodness is the best capital to found the business of this life upon. It lasts when fame and money fail, and is the only riches we can take out of this world with us.”
Carlos Ruiz Zafon said, “Making money isn't hard in itself... What's hard is to earn it doing something worth devoting one's life to.”
Julius Rosenwald said, “Do not be fooled into believing that because a man is rich he is necessarily smart. There is ample proof to the contrary.”
Benjamin Franklin said, “Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one. If it satisfies one want, it doubles and trebles that want another way. That was a true proverb of the wise man, rely upon it; Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure, and trouble therewith.”
Is it not a tragedy that a person has the means but he is incapable of doing right?
My German professor said, when he was young he needed money but he did not have money. When he was old, he had money but he did not need money.
Let me give you an experiment that you will never forget.
Let the rich man give his son a Ferrari AND watch what the son will do with the Ferrari.
19.) Why should you die before your time?
Ecc 7:17, “Do not be excessively wicked, and do not be foolish. Why should you die before your time?”
An excessively wicked person can die before his time.
A foolish person can die before his time.
A drug addict ruins himself/herself by dying before time.
A smoker and drinker dies before time.

“Drug overdoses are one of the leading causes of injury death in adults and have risen over the past several decades in the United States (1–3). A man who constantly engages with prostitutes is likely to contract VD and dies young.
The raising of this question is intended you do not have to die before your time. It is written,
Gen 25:8, “Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people.”
If you are a good Christian, I hope you die at a good old age, satisfied with life like Abraham.
20.) Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother”s eye?
Mat 7:3-5, “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and look, the log is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye!”
Now the contrast of a speck and a log is so obvious.
Speck in Greek is karphos which means a chaff; a mote; a small particle; dust; -- which occurs 6 times in the New Testament. Log in Greek is dokos which means a stick of timber; a large piece of tree trunk; beam; -- which occurs 6 times in the Old Testament.
Matthew 7:3. Κάρφος, a minute fragment of twig, wood, or straw, which, in entering the eye (see Wetstein), becomes the figurative representation of a slight moral fault; δοκός, again, is the figure by which a heinous[425] fault is denoted. Comp. Lightfoot, p. 307; Buxtorf, Lex Talm. p. 2080. Tholuck prefers to find the point of comparison in the pain caused by the splinter or beam in the eye. This is inadmissible, for otherwise it could not be said, in reference to the beam in the eye, οὐ κατανοεῖς, i.e. thou perceive not, art not aware. It is the magnitude of his own moral defects that the self-righteous man fails to discover. The brother, as in Matthew 5:22. Notice, further, the arrangement of words so appropriate to the sense in the second clause.
[425] The view of Theophylact, Baumgarten-Crusius, and several others, that the beam in a man’s own eye is calculated to make him conscious of his incapacity for recognising the faults of others, is foreign to the context. Luther correctly observes: “That He may the more earnestly warn us, He takes a rough simile, and paints the thing before our eyes, pronouncing some such opinion as this,—that every one who judges his neighbour has a huge beam in his eye, while he who is judged has only a tiny chip, (and) that he is ten times more deserving of judgment and condemnation for having condemned others.”
Henry David Thoreau said, “The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.”
Not only that, wicked people may pretend to be good people. One of the hardest things in life is to be able to distinguish between good and evil, between true and fake, between real and phony, between kind and cruel, between an angel and demon…A hypocrite always majors in a minor. It is like a camel entering the hole of a needle.
Tennessee Williams said, “The only thing worse than a liar is a liar that's also a hypocrite!”
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “People are very inclined to set moral standards for others.”
Thomas Paine said, “It has been the political career of this man to begin with hypocrisy, proceed with arrogance, and finish with contempt.”
Abraham Lincoln said, “Hypocrite: The man who murdered his parents, and then pleaded for mercy on the grounds that he was an orphan.”
21.) Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?
Mat 9:4, “And Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?”
Only Jesus can perceive the thoughts of mankind in their hearts. Notice the seat of evil thoughts is in the hearts of mankind.
So the problem is not your head, it is your heart.
Pro 4:23, “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.”
Verse 23 - Keep thy heart with all diligence; properly, above all things that have to be guarded, keep or guard thy heart. So Mercerus, Gescnius, Delitzsch, Zockler. This seems to be the right meaning of the phrase, mikkol-mish'mar, rendered in the Authorized Version "with all diligence," mish'mar, from shamar, "to guard," being the object of guarding; that which is to be guarded. It is as if the teacher said, "Guard riches, property, health, body, everything, in short, in which you have a legitimate interest, or which is advantageous; but before and above everything else, keep a guard on your heart." The rabbins Jarehi, Ben Ezra, Rashi, however, give a different rendering, "From everything which is to be avoided (ab omni re cavenda) guard thy heart;" but the objection to this is that it ignores the radical meaning of the verb shamar, from which mish'mar is derived, as stated above, which is not that of avoiding, but of guarding. A third rendering is," Keep thy heart with all keeping;" so the Vulgate, omni custodia serva cor tuum; and the LXX., πασὴ φυλακῇ τήρει σὴν καρδίαν; on which the Authorized Version seems to be based. Another rendering, similar to the first, except that it gives mish'mar the active signification of guarding instead of the passive one of being kept or guarded, is, "Keep thy heart more than any other keeping (prae omni custodia)." Origen, 'Hex.;' Field. Again, Aquila and Theodotion render, "Keep thy heart by reason of every commandment (ἀπὸ παντὸς φυλάγματος)," thus bringing into prominence the occasion and the obligation of keeping the heart, which is that we are so commanded. Heart (lev); here the affections and the moral consciousness. For out of it are the issues of life. The conjunction "for" introduces the reason. The fact here stated is that the moral conduct of life, its actions and proceedings, are determined by the condition of the heart. If the heart is pure, the life will be pure; if the heart is corrupt, the life will be corrupt. The heart is here compared with a fountain. The same idea which is affixed to it in its physical sense is also assigned to it in its ethical or moral sense. Physically, it is the central organ of the body; morally, it is the seat of the affections and the centre of the moral consciousness. From this moral centre flow forth "the issues of life;" i.e. the currents of the moral life take their rise in and flow forth from it, just as from the heart, physically considered, the blood is propelled and flows forth into the arterial system, by which it is conveyed to the remotest extremities of the body. And as the bodily health depends on the healthy action of the heart, so the moral health depends on and is influenced by the state in which this spring of all action is preserved. Issues; tots'aoth, from yatsar, "to go forth," are the place from which anything goes forth, and hence a fountain. For "the issues of life," the LXX. reads, ἔξοδοι ζωῆς, the Vulgate., exitus vitae. With this passage compare our Lord's teaching (Matthew 15:19; Mark 7:21-23; Luke 6:43-45). Proverbs 4:23.”
Jer 17:9, “The heart is more deceitful than all else
and is desperately sick; who can understand it?”
Jeremiah 17:9-10. The heart is deceitful above all things — This passage, considered in connection with what precedes, may be understood in two points of view: 1st, As assigning a reason why we should not trust in man; namely, because he is not only weak and frail, and therefore may want power to help us in our necessities and distresses, but is also false and deceitful. Or, 2d, As giving us a caution to take care lest we deceive ourselves in supposing we trust in God when really we do not; this being a thing respecting which our own hearts are very apt to deceive us, as appears by this, that our hopes and fears are wont to rise or fall, according as second causes appear to be favourable or adverse. But it is true in the general, that there is greater wickedness in our hearts, by nature, than we ourselves are aware of, or suspect to be there. Nay, and it is a common mistake among mankind to think their own hearts a great deal better than they really are. The heart of man, in his corrupt and fallen state, is false and deceitful above all things; deceitful in its apprehensions of things, calling evil good and good evil, putting false colours upon things, crying peace to those to whom peace does not belong, and cheating men to their own ruin; deceitful in the hopes and promises which it excites and nourishes, and in the assurances which it gives. And desperately wicked — Hebrews ואנשׁ הוא, literally, and desperate, or, as Blaney renders it, it is even past all hope; who can know it? That is, “humanly speaking, there is no possibility that any one should trace it through all its windings, and discover what is at the bottom of it.” In short, it is unsearchable by others, deceitful with reference to ourselves, and abominably wicked; so that neither can a man know his own heart, nor can any one know that of his neighbour. I the Lord search the heart — I am perfectly acquainted with it, and with all the wickedness that lodges in it: all its thoughts, counsels, and designs, however secret; all its intentions, affections, and determinations lie open to my inspection: and my piercing eye penetrates into its inmost recesses. I try the reins — To pass a true judgment on what I discern, and to give every thing therein its true character and due weight. I try the heart, as the gold is tried, whether it be standard weight or not; or, as the prisoner is tried, whether he be guilty or not. And this judgment, which I make of the hearts, is in order to my passing a true judgment upon the man, even to give to every man according to his ways — According to the desert and tendency of them; life to those that have walked in the ways of life, and death to those that have persisted in the paths of the destroyer; and according to the fruit of his doings — The effect and influence which his doings have had on others; or according to what is determined by the word of God to be the fruit of men’s doings, blessings to the obedient, and curses to the disobedient.”

“The Meaning of “Heart”
In Hebrew thought, the “heart” refers to the inner being or seat of motives and attitudes. The King James Version translates Jeremiah 17:9 using the term “heart” while other modern translations render it “human heart” (CSB, ESV) or “human nature” (NIV) to emphasize that this is referring to the inner condition of all people, not just certain individuals. So this verse is making a universal statement about human nature as a whole.
The Meaning of “Deceitful”
The Hebrew word translated “deceitful” is `aqob. This word literally means crooked, perverse, or twisted. It implies something or someone that is not straight or honest, but distorts the truth and misleads. One commentator notes that this Hebrew root word originally referred to a humpback or hunchback person who could not walk straight (Cundall and Morris, Jeremiah, 193). So the heart is deceitful because it does not lead us in right paths, but twists and distorts the truth.
The Meaning of “Desperately Wicked”
Not only is the human heart deceitful, but it is also “desperately wicked” (anash). This Hebrew word means weak, frail, or incurable. However, some translators believe the Hebrew also communicates the sense of something so sick or diseased that it is beyond hope or repair. The Hebrew literally reads something like “sick, sick” to emphasize the extent of the disease (Feinberg, Jeremiah, 142). This portrays the depth of human sinfulness.
The Universality of Human Depravity
In the rhetorical question “Who can know it?” God emphasizes that no one can fully understand the extent of the wickedness in their own heart. If left unchecked, human capacity for evil is beyond our comprehension. In his classic work The Doctrine of Sin, Louis Berkhof concludes from this verse that “the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked in all men” (247). The biblical teaching on original sin means that human depravity affects every individual’s inmost being.
The Deceitfulness of Sin
Jeremiah 17:9 also highlights the deceitfulness of sin. Even when we are committing wickedness, sin distorts our perspective so that we cannot accurately evaluate ourselves. In his sermon “The Deceitfulness of Sin” Charles Spurgeon stated:
It is the worst thing that sin does, this deceiving us. Other things are bad, but this is worst. It touches the vital part, and the most dangerous thing about man is—his heart; and the most deceitful thing about him is—his heart; and the most dangerously deceitful thing about him is his desperately deceitful heart.”
Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton said, “A good heart is better than all the heads in the world.”
Willie Wong says, “God created hands, head, and heart; the hands for the task, the head for the thought, and the heart for the truth.”
Theodore Roosevelt said, “A soft, easy life is not worth living, if it impairs the fibre of brain and heart and muscle. We must dare to be great; and we must realize that greatness is the fruit of toil and sacrifice and high courage... For us is the life of action, of strenuous performance of duty; let us live in the harness, striving mightily; let us rather run the risk of wearing out than rusting out.”
Carl Jung said, “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
22.) Why are you afraid?
Mar 4:40, “And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
The first time man was afraid was after he had sinned.
Gen 3:10, “He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”
Sin made you naked and that makes a person afraid. A man who commits wrong doing feeling like being naked that he has exposed himself. In the case of Adam: a sinful man must be afraid before the Holy God.
Gen 26:7, “When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “my wife,”thinking, “the men of the place might kill me on account of Rebekah, since she is beautiful.”
Like father, like son. Isaac made the same mistake his father Abraham did. Did you ever think to have a beautiful wife can be a burden?
Gen 50:19, “But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in God's place?”
We should not be afraid of man, for no one is in God’s place.
Deu 1:17, “You are not to show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You are not to be afraid of any person, for the judgment is God's. The case that is too difficult for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.'
There are government officials who use law and punishment to terrorize the citizens.
Lev 26:6, “I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down, with no one to make you afraid. I shall also eliminate harmful animals from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.”
The fear of wild animals is normal, for they can eat you up. I was a stupid boy. Had it not for the grace of God, I would have drowned and eaten by a crocodile. That is why I hold that all children were born stupid, it is the duty of their parents to instruct them the dangers of the world. Among them, harmful animals like crocodile, snake, lion, tiger, etc. Some animal lovers play down the dangers of deadly animals. My nephew was eaten by a crocodile when he went fishing and his body was never found. Some false teachers teach there is no fear of wild animals. They even quote the Bible or misquote the Bible: Gen 9:2, “The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every animal of the earth and on every bird of the sky; on everything that crawls on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea. They are handed over to you.”
That was historical one time that God handed over even wild animals to Noah.
In another historical case, Dan 6:16, “Then the king gave orders, and Daniel was
brought in and thrown into the lions' den. The king said to Daniel, “Your God whom you continually serve will Himself rescue you.”
Dan 6:19-24, “Then the king got up at dawn, at the break of day, and went in a hurry to the lions' den. And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king began speaking and said to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you continually serve, been able to rescue you from the lions?” “My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.” The king then gave orders, and they brought those men who had maliciously accused Daniel, and they threw them, their children, and their wives into the lions' den; and they had not
reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed
all their bones.”
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THOSE MALICIOUS WILD ANIMAL LOVERS BE THROWN INTO THE LIONS’ DEN!!!
Mankind has fears which are not necessary phobias. If you live in America, because the high cost of living, naturally you would be afraid of unemployment. There was a very bad economic time that a Ph.D. became a taxi driver. I was unemployed for a few years and that made me afraid of being a beggar. A Scripture gave me comfort and confidence,
Psa 37:25, “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging for bread.”
So I prayed to my Heavenly Father, “I am a descendant of the righteous but poor missionaries, please do not forsake me, please do not let me beg for bread.”
Praise God, the rest was history; I never became a beggar. There are other fears in America, such as gun violence, fraudulently high health care, high cost of renting, etc. Christians, if you have faith in God, you do not need to fear.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.” Jesus says:
Luk 12:32, “Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father has chosen to give you the Kingdom.”
23.) Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?
Luk 6:46, “Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?”
This is most common among so-called church communities. It is lip service.
Luke 6:46-49. And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? — What will fair professions avail, without a life answerable thereto? Our Lord’s words may also refer to what he had just spoken in praise of good words. As if he had said, Though I have thus spoken, you must take notice, that it is in a particular case especially that your good words will manifest the state of your hearts to be good, namely, when the characters and actions of others are spoken of and censured. Good words, on many other occasions, are of no avail; for the best advices given to others, Luke 6:42, or the fairest speeches imaginable addressed to me, your Master, and your giving me the highest titles of respect, are of no manner of signification, if you do not keep my commandments, and possess the graces, and practise the duties which I describe and enjoin. And the flood arose — Here is an allusion to the violent rains and sweeping floods in the eastern countries, in the winter. “Though the rains are not extremely frequent at that season, yet, when it does rain, the water pours down with great violence for three or four days and nights together, enough to drown the whole country. Such violent rains in so hilly a country as Judea must occasion inundations very dangerous to buildings within their reach, by washing the soil from under them, and occasioning their fall.” — Harmer. See the notes on Matthew 7:21-29; where the contents of this paragraph are explained. “May these beautiful, striking, and repeated admonitions, which our Saviour gives us of the vanity of every profession which does not influence the practice, be attended to with reverence and fear! We are building for eternity; may we never grudge the time and labour of a most serious inquiry into the great fundamental principles of religion! May we discover the sure foundation, and raise upon it a noble superstructure, which shall stand fair and glorious when hypocrites are swept away into everlasting ruin, in that awful day in which heaven and earth shall flee away from the face of him that sits upon the throne!
Revelation 20:11.” — Doddridge.”
Psa 12:2, “They speak lies to one another; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart.”
Flattering lips are deceitful lips and lying lips.
Isa 29:13, “Then the Lord said, “Because this people approaches Me with
their words and honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of the commandment of men that is taught.”
Isa 59:3, “For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with wrongdoing; your lips have spoken deceit, your tongue mutters wickedness.”
Mat 15:8, “THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART
IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.”
Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth,.... The preface to these words, or the form in which they are introduced by the prophet; "wherefore the Lord said", is left out in this citation, being unnecessary here, though of the greatest importance there; partly to show, that what was about to be said, was not the prophet's own words, but the words of the Lord, of which the Jews in Christ's time made no doubt; and partly to give a reason why that judicial blindness, threatened in the context, should be inflicted on them, which is no part of Christ's design here; but which is only to show, that the description here given exactly agrees with them, and so proves, and confirms the character he gives of them as hypocrites. They approached the ordinances of God, and drew nigh to him, and attended him in outward worship; they prayed unto him publicly, and constantly, in the streets, in the synagogues, and temple, and with much seeming devotion and sanctity:
and honoureth me with their lips: they owned him to be their creator and preserver; they made their boast of him, and of their knowledge of him, as the one only living, and true God, and as the God of Israel; they brought their sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, even the fruit of their lips, unto him, for their many peculiar mercies, privileges, and favours, as a nation, church, and people, and with much seeming sincerity and affection.
But their heart is far from me; they had no true love to God, nor faith in him, nor fear of him; they were not at all concerned for his presence with them, or for communion with him, or for his honour and glory; their hearts were in the world, and after their covetousness; they made religion a tool to their secular purposes, supposing gain to be godliness; sought the applause of men, and contented themselves with bodily exercise; having no regard to internal religion, powerful godliness, or where their hearts were, so be it, their bodies were presented to God in public worship; and what they did it was to be seen and approved of men, not caring what the searcher of hearts knew concerning them, or what he required of them.
According to https://www.thevillageidiom.org/idioms/lip-service-idiom-meaning-and-origin/
“Lip service means expressing support or agreement with words, but not taking any action. It implies insincerity or empty promises, where someone merely gives verbal approval or acknowledgment without truly meaning or intending to follow through.”
1Pe 3:10, “For, “THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.”
24.) If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
Jhn 8:46, “Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?”
This is the question of questions, the puzzle of puzzles. Why people do not believe truth?
Verse 46. - Which of you convicteth me of sin? Ἐλέγχω is used in the sense of John 16:6-8 (see note) - Which of you can justify a charge of sin against me? can bring it home to me or others? Sin (ἁμαρτία) is not mere "error," as Erasmus and some others have urged, because the word throughout the New Testament (and in the classics when not accompanied by some explanatory term) always means "contrariety to the will of God," moral offence not intellectual defect (so Meyer, Luthardt, Godet, Westcott). Nor is it sound exegesis to limit ἁμαρτία to one particular form of sin (such as "false doctrine," Calvin, Melancthon, Tholuck). There is no need to limit its reference; and in the unanswered query, while we cannot say that by itself this passage is sufficient to demonstrate the sinlessness of Christ, it reveals a sublime depth in his translucent consciousness that places him - unless he were the most deluded or self-sufficient of human teachers - on a different position from all other Divine messengers. In proportion as other great moral prophets have set their own standard high, they have become conscious of their own defects; and from Moses to St. Paul, from Augustine to St. Francis, the saintliest men have been the most alive to their own departures from their ideas of right. The standard of Jesus is higher than that of any other, and he appears nevertheless absolutely without need of repentance, above the power of temptation, beyond the range of conviction. True, the Jews brought a charge of madness and folly upon him immediately; but, so far from convincing him or mankind, they stand forever covered with the shame of their own incompetence to apprehend his message or himself. He being, then, without sin, and assuming that he stands in the eternal truth, and is the absolute Truth of things, and that he cannot from his moral purity deceive or misinform them, and that his testimony to himself is final, sufficient, and trustworthy, asks, If I say the truth - without your having convicted me of sin or brought any moral obliquity or offence against me - if I say (the) truth, why do ye not believe me? The reason is in them rather than in him. Their non-belief discloses no flaw in his revelation, but makes it evident that they and he are on different planes of being, with a discrepant, opposed, moral paternity. "Why do ye not believe me?" He marvelled at their unbelief! He is from God; they are from God's great enemy. The moral perfection of Jesus as the God-Man is absolutely necessary to his character as "God's Lamb," as "the Only Begotten," "the Son," and as "the Judge," of the human race. As he subsequently said, "The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing fit me." To account for this sinless, perfect humanity, the entire conception of the Divine nature blended in indissoluble union with his own is found imperative at every epoch of Christ's life. At every development of his official character, in every new combination of circumstance, in conflict and sorrow, when smarting from treachery and dying alone upon the cross, he is "perfect," he fulfils the perfect norm, he reaches the standard of Divine humanity. There is no discrepance here with even Mark's account of his language to the young ruler (Mark 10:18), for he does not there say that he is not good, nor does he do other than suggest that he is identified with the One who is good. John 8:46.”
This is even more amazing or shocking:
2Th 2:11, “And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.”
Delusion in Greek is planē which means objectively fraudulence; deceit, error; wrong opinion; (Strong’s Concordance); something that is false; psychotic belief; illusion; unreality -- which occurs 10 times in the New Testament. We can be sure a person is under delusion to believe the lie. There are two things that bother me most: One is to choose wickedness, the other is to believe a lie.
Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
11. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion] Rather sends to them, the present standing for the future by anticipation of the predicted certainty; or better explained as the statement of a principle already at work. What will take place in those deceived by Antichrist, is seen on a smaller scale every day.
For strong delusion read, with R.V., working of error, parallel to “working of Satan,” 2 Thessalonians 2:9 (see note on working); a superhuman force and fascination is implied, that of Satan’s miraculous working in the Antichrist. “Delusion” is deceit accepted, falsehood taken for truth (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). And “God sends” this effectual deceit, with the very purpose that they should believe the lie. “O Lord, why dost Thou make us to err from Thy ways?” (Isaiah 63:17).
2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, therefore, ascribe to God the great delusion that we have been all along regarding as the masterpiece of Satan. Three things must be borne in mind here: (1) that Satan is never represented in Scripture as an independent power, or rival deity of evil, like the Persian Ahriman. However large the activity allowed to him in this world, it is under Divine control (see Job 1, 2; 1 Corinthians 5:5; 1 Corinthians 10:13; &c.). (2) St Paul teaches that God makes sin work out its own punishment. In Romans 1:24-25, he represents the loathsome vice of the Pagan world as a Divine chastisement for its long-continued idolatry: “For this cause God sends eftectual delusion” is parallel to “For this cause God gave them up to vile passions.” In each case the result is inevitable, and comes about by what we now call a natural law. That persistent rejection of truth destroys the sense of truth and results in fatal error, is an ethical principle and a fact of experience as certain as any in the world. Now he who believes in God as the Moral Ruler of the Universe, knows that its laws are the expression of His will. Since this Satanic delusion is the moral consequence of previous and wilful rejection of the truth, it is manifest that God is here at work; He makes Satan and the Lawless One His instruments in punishing false-hearted men. As they loved lies, God “sends them” lies for their portion. Comp. Ezekiel 14:9, and 1 Kings 22. “Righteous and true are Thy ways, Thou King of the ages!” (Revelation 15:3). (3) The advents of Christ and of Antichrist are linked together (2 Thessalonians 2:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:9); they are parts of the same great process and drama of judgement. God sends “the working of error” in the Lawless One, Who will quickly send His Son to be Judge of the lawless and Avenger of His elect.
For “a lie” the Greek reads “the lie” (same word as falsehood, 2 Thessalonians 2:9), which probably means here not falsehood in general, but this particular falsehood—“the lie” par excellence, in which all previous delusions of Satan are consummated, viz. that the Lawless One is himself God (2 Thessalonians 2:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). Similarly Idolatry is called “the (great) lie,” in contrast with “the truth of God” (Romans 1:25).”
Croft M. Pentz said, “A lie may take care of the present, but it has no future.”
Ann Landers said, “The naked truth is always better than the best-dressed lie.”
William Blake said, “When I tell the truth, it is not for the sake of convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending those that do.”
John Locke said, “Who lies for you will lie against you.”
Charles Spurgeon said, “A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”
Willie Wong says, “The truth is the greatest enemy of the West.”
Thomas Jefferson said, “He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it the second time.”
The Manifesto of Jesus Christ:
Jhn 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I AM the WAY, and the TRUTH and the LIFE; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jhn 8:32, “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Jhn 8:45, “But because I say the truth, you do not believe Me.”
Jhn 16:13, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”
Jhn 4:24, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Jhn 1:17, “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Jhn 3:21, “But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been
performed in God.”
Jhn 1:14, “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
This is the truth, nothing but the truth:
1. ) We are all sinners who cannot save ourselves.
Rom 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
2. ) We all will die because the wages of sin is death.
Rom 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
3. ) God so loved the world that He sent His Son Jesus.
Jhn 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
4. ) Jesus is the Savior of all mankind who died for our sins.
Rom 5:6, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”
5. ) Jesus rose from the dead by the power of God.
Rom 8:34, “who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, but rather, was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”
6. ) There is no other name under Heaven whereby we may be saved.
Act 4:12, “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under Heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.”
7. ) Repent of your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus so that you may be saved.
Act 2:38, “Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
8. ) We are saved by the grace of God and through faith in Jesus Christ.
Eph 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Grace in Greek is charis which means kindness which bestows upon one what he has not deserved; pre-eminently of that kindness by which God bestows: favors even upon the ill-deserving, and grants to sinners the pardon of their offences, and bids them accept of eternal salvation through Christ (Strong’s Concordance); undeserved favor; unmerited favor from God; -- which occurs 155 times in the New Testament.
Rom 11:6, “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, since otherwise grace is no longer grace.”
Since it is by grace, you cannot work for it.
Jas 1:17, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”
Salvation is the gift of God, so you cannot earn it.
Gift in Greek is dōron which means a present; something given without compensation; this is not gift to God but gift from God to mankind; -- which occurs 19 times in the New Testament. Salvation is the gift of God, so no one can earn it.
Now by the grace of God and as the gift of God if you neglect so great a salvation, you have yourself to blame if you are cast into Hell.
Do not listen to some false theologians who say God destines some group of people to go to Hell.
2Pe 3:9, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some
count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”
A person fails and perishes if he/she does not repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
9. ) As many who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, He gives the right to become children of God.
Jhn 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”
10. ) When Jesus comes again, the children of God will be like Him and reign with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven for ever.
1Jo 3:2, “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him,
because we will see Him just as He is.”
1Co 13:12, “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.”
2Ti 2:10-12, “For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and
with it eternal glory. The statement is trustworthy: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him;
if we deny Him, He will also deny us.”
God’s plan of salvation is as simple as that.
Will you come to Jesus now, for now is the day of salvation. All who know the truth will follow Jesus.
To receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is to receive the eternal life.

Palestinians must be evacuated from the Jewish lands and resettle permanently in Arab lands to build their own Palestinian state. Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis are terrorists to be destroyed completely. That is the only way to peace.
The world intentionally believes in a lie. Palestinians are originally Arabs who surreptitiously moved to Israel without pay under the British colony called Palestine. Arabs bred like rabbits and called themselves Palestinians. It is most reasonable for Arabs to move to lands of Arabs. For Palestinians do not have claim or resettlement right in the Jewish land of Gaza, West Bank, etc. No one would object for Palestinians to build a Palestinian state in lands of Arabs, but Palestinians cannot build a Palestinian state in the Jewish land. Palestinians prefer to be called refugees in order to receive international aid every thing for free. Palestinians must move out or be removed from the Jewish land. TERRORISTS HAMAS, Hezbollah and Houthis MUST be destroyed completely.
There has been undeclared war in the southern border between Mexico and America, which has been neglected by previous American administrations. Mexico flagrantly serves as the open conduit for illegal migrants to enter California and crossing the river to enter Texas. The US must bomb Mexico to warn them there can not be business as usual; in particular Mexico rejected American airplanes which carried deported illegal migrants to land. America must use its powerful military and National Guards to patrol the borders 24 hours. Fire and shoot at unlawful migrants who climb the wall; who try to destroy the wall; who do graffiti on the wall; who congregate within 100 feet of the wall; who cross the river; who cut the wire to deter the invasion. America declares to REJECT all asylum applicants for 100 years. No humanitarian aid shall be given to any unlawful migrants. In addition to American troops, state National guards must also be used to end the unlawful migrants invasion of America. They are despicable and deplorable peoples who fail in their countries and dream of entering America to live happily and doing nothing on welfare. Immigration Officers must raid Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Santa Ana, San Diego, Miami, etc. -- dens of illegal aliens; the Welfare Department has their names and addressees.
Palestinians are also useless, shameless and worthless peoples to loot and rob international aid trucks. They are violent and unproductive. Leaders and politicians of Palestinian Authority lead them to the path of destruction by illegally occupying the Jewish lands. They do not want to go to the Arab lands to build their Palestinian state. They rather stay in Jewish lands in order to receive aid for nothing. No aid should enter to help Palestinians.
Hamas should be held responsible for killing hostages and be punished. The UN chief speaks and supports terrorists should be gone. All UN high-paid officials should be replaced; and UN to be reformed in 100 days. It is a false peace. Gaza, West Bank, Golan Heights, Rafah, etc. are Jewish lands. UN, WHO, Arab-Muslim-Black nations and Palestinian Authority speak and support terrorists Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis without making any demand. Palestinians do not have homeland in Jewish lands. They must evacuate from Jewish lands and go to lands of Arab to build a Palestinian state. That would be true peace but they do not want peace.
CHINA is the most unusual nation on earth. The craftsmen or artisans of Tang, Sung, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties created untold and immense treasures for China. Western nations like Britain, US, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Austria-Hungary, and Japan (8-nation alliance) attacked, burned, robbed and stole and looted China national treasures at market value of more than US$100,000 trillion dollars. It is better to return them to China now, not wait until China makes demands by military force. Shame on Western nations who claim or pretend to be Christian. For the last 500 years, the manifest evils of the West are imperialism, colonialism and capitalism.
Today Chinese rescue workers respond to any natural disaster, the speed and service they built tents and houses unmatched by any nation. The American homeless people would rejoice just to have the Chinese tents. China must not waste its resources on the lazy people and unproductive peoples who eat and get fat, drink alcohol, sing and dance, have sex and produce many unwanted children they cannot support; like to play, enjoy games and sports but dislike hard work and discipline; cannot even produce food and basic necessities.
Xizang earthquake demonstrates what the Chinese government cares and does for its people. Joe Biden in his last days still gives substantial military aid to the Ukrainians. What does the U.S. government do for Californians in Los Angeles wildfires? The world must know the truth.
Japan intends to swallow up the United States Steel in order to control the American economy. This should be an eye-opener to the U.S. government that Japan is not a genuine ally. The US government made a big mistake in rearming Japan. Singapore and Malaysia are wise to establish a special economic zone. Many underdeveloped nations fool China in holding one-China policy. By doing so they think they deserve China’s economic and financial aid. India has conflict of interest in Bricks, it is better to withdraw and Indonesia is wise to join Bricks.
Leaders and politicians of Palestinians are evil and guilty because they lead Palestinians to the path of death and destruction through illegal occupation of the Jewish land and support of the terrorists. They give false hope to Palestinians in so-called “two state solutions”. Palestinians are Arabs, no one would object to Palestinians building a Palestinian state in an Arab land. When Palestinians want to build a Palestinian state in the Jewish land, that is the cause of conflict. Palestinians speak and support terrorists Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis. Palestinian leaders and politicians should evacuate all Palestinians from the land of the Jews and go to Arab lands to build a Palestinian state. That would be real peace.
The Internet is a cesspool of corruption, fraud and iniquity. No nation polices and punishes their wrongdoings. Money making individuals and institutions would invade your computer to push their products even rejected. Many famous American universities and institutions are selling their fraudulent products for incurable problems. Many individuals and institutions claim to be Christian and shamelessly and aggressively ask for donations. Many sell famous works in public domain through subscriptions and purchases. Many distort and pervert the Word of God but ask for donations.
Any nation which restricts, bans, or interferes with China’s activities is illegal and unlawful. China can do anything within its sovereignty that does not violate the international law.
To appease the fury and wrath of South Koreans, the impeached Yoon and all those who blocked his arrest shall be executed once and for all. Maybe Yoon should experience the 4-horse treatment. South Korea is the nation the world should not be: all incompetent, chaotic and useless.
Henceforth beginning 2025 all undeveloped nations must work, discipline and be responsible to produce their own food and other necessities; all international aid will be terminated beginning November 2025. Undeveloped nations cannot do as usual in dancing, singing, drinking and sporting, have sex and produce many unwanted children they cannot support. They must work hard to support and save themselves. Based on the Biblical principle, 2Th 3:10, “For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.”

How can we be suspicious since we never ask for money, we only tell the truth absolutely free.
China has aided more than 100 nations costing hundreds of $ billions. Tell the truth, which nation is grateful? Won’t it better to spend on internal improvement or buying gold?

THE WEST (US, BRITAIN, CANADA, EU) BEING EVIL AND FOUND GUILTY OF SANCTIONING CHINA ALL BECAUSE THEY COVET XINJIANG AND XICHANG AND HONG KONG, USE TAIWAN AND SOUTH CHINA SEA TO ATTACK CHINA’S SOVEREIGNTY.
On the one hand, some White experts pretend to make good suggestions to improve China economy; they may fool many Chinese, I can see malice, envy and ill will through their awkward faces. On the other hand, Black leaders and politicians play coy and con China to support their development for nothing. China must not be fooled and must use its hard-earned meager resources wisely to do the following strategic projects:
1. China should have unswerving commitment only to itself. China should not waste money on useless and unworthy undeveloped countries. Not one nation is grateful. Deficits and debts are bad. China cannot save the world, China must save itself.
2. Make deserts green and reduce sand storms.
3. Repair the Great Walls. Build sea walls around Hainan Island, Shanghai, etc. to prevent climate change that sea water will rise.
4. Promote night markets in big cities and promote domestic travel to expand the economy. Deficits and debts are bad; fiscal surplus is good.
5. Execute crooks and criminals who defraud through Telecom and Internet of more than ONE million yuan. IT is not known who polices the rampant international crooks and criminals who defraud the public by famous American universities and institutions who sell high-priced fake drugs such as to cure knee pain and prevent knee surgery and ear ringing, etc. Sweep clean fraudulent commercials on TV and the Internet.
6. Execute crooks and criminals who defraud in foreign nations and do not bring them home. Faces and names of deceivers must be published on TV to shame them and their families.
7. Increase and strengthen the development and deployment of nuclear weapons for self-defence.
8. Streamline and reduce national and local government debts and deficits.
9. Train 5 million doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, professors and MANAGERS, machinists in the next 5 years.
10. Assist the poor Chinese in the rural areas first.
11. Improve mechanized agriculture, and upgrade technology in every field.
12. Streamline management of central and local governments.
13. Enforce laws to reduce the number of criminal individuals and organizations in many areas.
14. Execute crooks and criminals who create rumors and conduct espionage that harm national security.
15. Reorganize personnel of CGTN and restructure its programs.
16. Protect the environment and punish severely individuals and organizations who dump industrial waste and toxic materials on lands, soils, water ways, lakes and rivers, and seas.
17. Remove all fraudulent commercials and fake advertisements from TV and Internet and punish the culprits severely. Violent gaming produces violent culture. Violent culture destroys any nation.
18. Make it easy for Overseas Chinese to come to China and make their investments.
19. Reward universities that earn and win NOBEL prizes.
20. Conduct ditching and dredging of lakes and rivers to prevent flooding before extreme weather.
21. Innovate and increase therapeutic and pharmaceutical capabilities to produce various vaccines and preventive medicines.
22. Regulate foreign hospitals and clinics in China to prohibit monopoly and prevent high costs of healthcare.
23. Bargain down whole sale price with foreign drug companies to import effective foreign drugs to benefit Chinese consumers.
24. Subsidize elderly apartment renting by 30%, if elderly live with their children, their monthly mortgage will reduce also by 30%.
25. Severely punish companies that manufacture fake or low quality products.
26. The world must condemn the phony currency called Bitcoin and China should not fall into the financial trap.
27. Execute individuals and organizations that rob ancient cemeteries or tombs to sell precious national treasures.
28. Regulate foreign hospitals and clinics in China to prohibit monopoly and prevent high costs of healthcare.
29. Bargain down whole sale price with foreign drug companies to import effective foreign drugs to benefit Chinese consumers.
30. The world must condemn the phony currency called Bitcoin and China should not fall into the financial trap.
31. Mandate providing access to elderly and invalid wheelchairs.
32. Execute individuals and organizations that rob ancient cemeteries or tombs to sell precious national treasures.
33. Prohibit anyone to smoke on TV or in movies. Reduce individual gun violence except in war movies.
34. Execute Hong Kong residents who commit treason or to be exiled permanently. Hong Kong is fortunate to have food, fuel and water, etc. provided by Mainland China. Hong Kong should start de-Biritishization by changing all English street names, for example Victoria Peak should be replaced by Deng Xiaoping Peak.
35. No one speaks Portuguese except Portugal and Brazil. Macao should not hamstring its residents, but replace Portuguese with the English language the sooner the better.
36. Increase, innovate, and modernize public and private toilet facilities.
37. Punish severely those who violate smoking and drinking on buildings, trains, ferries, and airplanes; the third violation deserves to be executed.
38. China needs to make Christmas a national holiday to facilitate the big Christmas business in China.
39. Execute leading organized criminals, attack every form of terror, and destroy vigorous lawlessness.
40. Penalize severely those who have licenses but do not know how to drive or violate traffic rules and regulations on purpose.
41. To deter and destroy corruption, China needs to execute any officer who commits corruption of more than CNY one million.
42. Execute anyone who counterfeits money and seize all his/her assets.
